Reciever sight for savage M99

Post by eric65 »

I seem to recall reading about A reciever sight that used the rear scope mount holes. Ring any bells with anyone here?

Before they were D&T for scopes, Lyman, Redfield and others made receiver sights that used the holes D&T on the rear of the 99 tang. AFTER they were D&T for scope mounts, Williams made their receiver sight to mount on the rear most of those scope mount holes. The spacing didn't change through the end of the line.
Sincerely,

I have a 1921 M99 that I bought 2 receiver sights for.
Didn't realize that there are two different mounting styles.
My rifle uses the earlier Lyman 57SA (long tang) sight and I have
another sight that uses the later mounting Lyman 57SB (.50 center
mounting holes). If you are interested in the 57SB send me a PM.
