Mossberg/Revelation
A local dealer has an older Revelation .30-30 that looks like new. The stock is the nicest walnut I've seen in a long time. Were there any problems with them?

Re: Mossberg/Revelation
Most of the time, the guns made by major mfgs for the big retailers were just as good as the standards but might have different features or wood so that they didn't look quite the same. Quality was the same.

Re: Mossberg/Revelation
I was wondering if it is a reliable design.

If you are talking about the Mossberg 470 series then yes, it is.
If you can provide the Revelation model number I can cross check.

Re: Mossberg/Revelation
Seven models of this gun made, does it have a straight or pistol grip stock.
I have mentioned before on this forum, this lever action is the most easy to operate ( centerfire lever I have ever shot )

Re: Mossberg/Revelation
This one has a pistol grip. The workmanship seems way above average.

Re: Mossberg/Revelation
I'm pretty sure these are all made on the same equipment as the name brand's guns. As Hobie said, usually with some slightly different features, wood, finishes, etc. But mechanically, they should be identical.

Re: Mossberg/Revelation
Is it a lever action? The only Revelation i have seen was a pistol grip Marlin 336 re-badged as a Revelation in 30/30

Steetstar, the Mossberg looks a lot like the 336, but it IS different, the Mossberg trigger travels with the lever.

Re: Mossberg/Revelation
Thanks Mesc I almost bought one of those a couple of months ago ! Just a rough shooter, but i am glad i passed --- it looked like it had potential, but if it is not compatible with MArlin replacement parts, i did the right thing for me !
I am thinking about buying a Glenfield now though -- nut at least it has the familiar "JM" on the barrell
On second thought, maybe i should have snatched it up anyway, i need all the levers i can get But at $260 for a "rough shooter". it wasnt exactly a "Slap Yo Mama" type of deal ------------ i was told they sold these at Western Auto ! very cool, i was born 40 years too late i think

OK, bottom of a pallet of $ 5.00 dollar rifles at one of the sales at the local gun emporium.
I had to move all the other rifles to get to it.

A pallet of $5 rifles?
Never heard of such. I could make nice lamps out of them for that price.

When the Navajo tribal police switched from double action revolvers to automatics, I bought my S&W model 19 there; out of a 55 gallon barrel of D/A's
