OT - A great loss for all pistoleros
I just got word that Master Holstermaker Lou Alessi died this morning after a long fight with cancer. I've known Lou for a number of year and not only is this a great loss for the Shooting Community, it is a personal loss as well.
I have no idea whether or not Lou's company will continue to operate or not, nor do I have information on funeral arrangements. Let's all keep Lou and his wife Ida Marie in our prayers.
Doc
Here is the message I got:
If you've not heard already, I'm deeply sorry to pass the word that Lou Alessi died this morning. The call went out to several mutual friends, apparently from a young man who worked in the shop. I've not yet called his wife and am hesitant to do so until things settle down a bit.
He will be missed by all who knew him. So far as I can tell, there is no one among those with whom he so freely shared his skills and patterns who can replace him. A sad day for pistol toters in general and sadder for those of us who knew Lou personally.

My condolences, prayers sent.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

Oh, shoot. That is sad news. He was a real gentleman and a master craftsman. Holsters he made for me are treasures, now apparently never to be replaced.
I am sorry to read this. I knew he had been fighting for some time, but it is a shock anyway.
God bless his family, loved ones, employees, and friends. He was a good man who helped many.

I had to look this one up, to be sure, as Lou Alessi's death was reported erroneously on the internet at least twice before, with even folks who knew him personally believing it, until it was cleared up. Lou, thanks for your service to your country, and for the holsters you made for us. Rest in peace. Prayers up.
