New Lever - Did I score?

Post by dkillough »

Just asked at the counter of one of the big outdoor chains if they had any .357 levers in the back. Clerk comes walking out of the storeroom with a new Marlin 1894C. I check it out and ask how much and when he scans the barcode it comes up $349. I quickly said I'll take it. I am ready for some shootin'.

At that price, I'd have bought two!

I think you did real well price wise too. My grandson has a 1979 like new 1894 .357 that is an excellent shooting carbine. Welcome to the forum too.

All gander mountain store prices aren't the same. But they will check other stores and ship in a gun from somewhere else.

You got yours $30 cheaper than the best sale price I've seen in a long time. I thought $379 was good! So much so that I bought two! Good for you.

Recent sale at Big 5 had them at 399.00. have wondered if I should get one and let go of the Fg in .41.Everyone seems real happy with the 1894c in .357. Doesn't seem to have the Marlin Jam issue.

The action on mine started out stiff but with use is slicker than anything else I have.

Does it have the hardwood stock or is it walnut? Either way that's a very good price on a great little lever.

Yes, regardless $349 is an awsome price.

Nice lookin carbine for sure! Thanks for posting.

The nearest GM is in College Station...

That's the best deal on a .357 lever going. And they feed 38 Specials slick too - no mods needed.

I've got the walnut one and replaced the rubber buttpad with a hard rubber one like that. I also cut the mag plug down so we could get 10 rounds in the mag - for CAS. I also lightened the lever catch spring and stoned it so that my boys could cylcle it faster. Good shootin little carbine to be sure.

Been a few years since we did that.... which reminds me that my oldest (now 17) has mentioned getting back into it... lots of $$$ to shoot CAS.
