Being Shipped ...Group Buy for the Ideal 375166 Mold

Post by John Boy »

Gentlemen, good news! A Special Mold Order for the old Ideal 375166 (38-55) (330gr) ... the original factory standard bullet used for decades ... IS A GO!
Received from Lou Sellman, Lyman Distributor today ...
I ORDERED THE CHERRIES. I GUESS IT WILL TAKE ABOUT A MONTH FOR THE CHERRIES - LOU

So, if there are 38-55 shooters that want this proven bullet or mold collectors that have not seen this mold for over 40 years - here's your chance to buy a 'Piece of History'. Just post your desire here or send me an email/PM and I'll keep a running list of all. From the Polls on several other forums, there are 41 folks that also want this mold

Here's some details about the bullet ... http://www.castboolits.gunloads.com/sho ... ght=375166

Congratulations John Boy. It takes a lot of work to set something like that up.

Rusty - Thanks. This will be the 3rd Ideal Mold ... Resurrected From the Dead that Lou Sellman has done for us with Lyman Products. Can't reason why Lyman never kept many of the Ideal Molds in their product line. The 375166 goes back to the 1800's and was the original 38 cal bullet for 38-55 factory loads ... Go Figure!

I hope y'all don't mind, but I let some other folks know about the mold availability. Lyman might end up needing to make another run of them.

Doc, I am sure that there will be enough molds for everyone. If demand exceeds the initial run - Not a Problem. Lou Sellman is a Lyman Distributor and HE owns the cherries (2) not Lyman. So, it's a matter of a telephone call to Nick Angelo at Lyman to get more.

marlinman93 - the "375" is the prefix number of the mold that Ideal used in their catalogues before they went out of business. The bullet will have a 381 base diameter which is the same as the original Ideal - not a 375 base diameter. Okie Dookie?

Scroll back up and call Lou Sellman. He bought extras for inventory because he is a Lyman Distribution. I just did the Group Buy legwork
