OT: Jeans
Do any of ya'll wear Wrangler Cowboy Cut jeans? I have a few pairs of Levi's and sort of like the boot cut but sick of the low rise waist and overall, Levi's don't seem to be what they once were, even the old 517 boot cut jeans with regular waist.
And not many stores actually sell the Wrangler Cowboy Cut jeans in my area but of course, online is a option. I've read they should be bought about 2 inches longer than what you normally wear. Also, the legs are tapered more though but I've also wondered about the Wrangler 945 boot cut jeans.

Levi Strauss supports anti-gun causes so much that I had to quit wearing them, even though I love the product. I now wear Carhartt's.

Re: OT: Jeans
I wore Levis for over 35 years, but stopped the day I heard they were giving money to anti gun organizations! I went to my local BiMart and found the Rustler jeans they carry were a great fit on me, and my western boots, plus over $20 less than the Levis I used to buy!

The only denims I wear are tan or black made by Diamond Gusset. They are made 100% in the US of A in Bon Aqua, Tennesee. Right down to the Delta grown cotton for the fabric. They are very comfortable and wear like a hog's nose.

I haven't wore a pair of jeans since last winter/early spring. I wear shorts here in SC. When the weather changes I'll try on the Wranglers. I hope they fit.

About size 54 bib overalls with 30" legs are close for me.
Re: OT: Jeans
I wear the Wrangler 13MWZ. I switched from Levi's because of their bad politics. There are a couple of western wear stores convenient to where I work so I can shop there easily.

Wrangler. The only ones I can find with the thin seam on the inside leg, more comfortable when in the saddle.
I didn't know about Levi's being anti-gun!

Re: OT: Jeans
When I was young and that's a fair while ago I wore Levi's all the time, I then changed to Wrangler's 13 MWZ, of late I've gone back to Levi's 501 Shrinkers just love em, love the fit and the canvasy feel of the denim, no problems with the Wrangler's top jeans, I like to support both companys, Levi because they are the original Cowboy jean, and Wrangler because they support Rodeo,so my wife wears Wrangler's and I wear Levi's, I find both are good for riding, the inner seams are flat and slightly turned so they don't rub the inside of your leg when you are in the saddle, my wife just got four pairs of Wrangler's from Sheplers, they are also top people to do business with, and believe it or not one pair was actually made in the U S of A. I did not know Levi were anti-gun infact I will email them and ask them will let you know what they say. winchester1886.
Re: OT: Jeans
Are Wrangler Cowboy Cut now being made outside of the USA and is the quality the same?

Wrangler Rugged Wear exclusively. I also dumped Levi's account of anti-gun politics and also because they quit backing The Boy Scouts of America back in 86 or 87 because BSA would not allow homo sexual troop leaders..........

Re: OT: Jeans
Levi's aren't what they once were. They're more fashion (pre worn and dirty looking) than utility, and good luck finding a pair of shrink to fit 501s. The Penny's and Macy's at my local mall don't carry them, and only carry a couple pair of preshrunk 501s. You want shrink to fit, you have to go online. 505s are as close to a regular jean from Levis that the big retailers are going to stock.Aries wrote:Levi's don't seem to be what they once were, even the old 517 boot cut jeans with regular waist.
I'm currently wearing 501s from Levi's Vintage Clothing line (bought online from Europe). I've got a pair each of the 1937, 1944, and 1955 pattern. Stiff, heavy, raw, indigo dyed, selvedge denim, made in the USA. Way over priced, but after wearing the 1937's for a month straight, and now the 44's for a couple weeks, I like 'em a heckuva lot better than modern jeans.
As for Levi's antigun stance.... do those that Boycott Levis also boycott Sara Lee, Ben & Jerry's, Time Warner, Hallmark, the St. Louis Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, The Christian Science Monitor, CBS, NBC, Time Magazine?

Levi Strauss is different than all the others mentioned above because people like us made that company the success it is. Coming from them, it feels like a much more distinct stab-in-the-back than from the others.

Re: OT: Jeans
I use to be brand loyal until I bought my first new Pontiac. Then I grew up and realized, no big company is my friend, and I owe them no loyalty (especially when they sell me no good). I've also realized I can't go around boycotting each and every business that disagrees with me politically. And how sad is that, that business's now have a political agenda? What ever happened to shutting the hell up and concentrating on making and selling your product? I buy what I want, and know that so little money is being made off of me by the anti gun groups, that it's more than made up for by the money I put into the NRA, local gun stores, local sportsmans clubs, and working at local shooting events.RSY wrote:As much as possible, and with relish.Slick13 wrote:As for Levi's antigun stance.... do those that Boycott Levis also boycott Sara Lee, Ben & Jerry's, Time Warner, Hallmark, the St. Louis Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, The Christian Science Monitor, CBS, NBC, Time Magazine?

Re: OT: Jeans
Wrangler George Strait Cowboy Cut Collection made in Mexico of U.S. fabric. Great jeans!
Re: OT: Jeans
I only wear jeans in the winter. Whatever is the least expensive, but I do have some 25 yr old 501s that have only been worn 4-5 times. The same with the 13MWZs that were worn religiously back when I actually worked for a living. Mostly, I live in shorts and flip flops or low cut hikers. When I wear boots on the ranch it's Whites packers with rider heels. Got an ancient pair of Tonys that feel like slippers, but again, only in winter.

Re: OT: Jeans
Makes me laugh for Levi to be anti-gun, probably quite a few good ole boys in days gone bye that either shot someone or were shot by someone wearing Levi's, maybe they feel guilty and want to make up for past sins.
I'll bet they don't really give a Rat's Ar$E it's just trendy and cool to be seen as anti gun, after all their main customers are screwball young people, and as my brother says just tellem what they want to hear, I remember a few years ago Levi had to change their image from Cowboy Clothes to more trendy clothes because their sales were falling off. Just go with the flow that's the easy way.

Re: OT: Jeans
And I don't understand how the "trend" got started of wearing baggy jeans which fall so low that it shows underwear.
Re: OT: Jeans
I've heard two explanations as to why this "style' started in the black community, though I don't know if either are true. #1, poor children recieved hand me downs from older syblings, and the oversized clothing became stylish. #2, convicts in prisoner weren't permitted to have belts so their clothing drooped and hung on them. They wore clothes that way when released from prison, and it caught on with others.Aries wrote:And I don't understand how the "trend" got started of wearing baggy jeans which fall so low that it shows underwear.

Re: OT: Jeans
I always had a big weight problem. On top of that on the job I had a uniform and gun. I cinched my belts up until I couldnt breath, and had the problem of the shirt comeing out etc. About 15 years ago I started wearing suspenders. At the time I had a girl friend who managed a big and tall store. That was good for me! She could get me suspenders that matched my uniform shirts. Since I was the old timer at work and had #1 badge, supervision let me slide. There isnt much else you can do when your gut is bigger than your hips! Been retired for almost 9 years. About a year ago I was gambling in a casino. I got up fast from a table and my pants fell down, caught them before they hit the floor, jerked them up and walked off with several people getting a kick out of it! How these kids want to wear lose baggy pants is beyound me! It really is uncomfortable and worrysome. I occasionaly carry ccw yet, but not much. Suspenders are mandatory when I do. Look at those pictures of old cowpokes. Most wear suspenders with a gunbelt. Many times they wear vests where you have to look close.

I haven't worn a pair of jeans since March 15 the day I was terminated, but when I did I bought all my jeans at Costco- their Kirkland brand.
Re: OT: Jeans
I get the cowboy cut in brown and wear them for small game hunting. They are comfortable to walk around in and heavy enough to keep the scrub from tearing you up.
