Still looks better than a levergun with an AR stock and a quad rail with a bunch of stuff bolted to it.

Big Amen on this! I know there's lotta useful add ons along this line, that some benefit & like, that's a good thing! But for me, no way!
But who knows the stories involved in this rifle, and has nothing to do with how it shoots I'm sure, providing barrels ok. I bought a Steven's 15a 22lr long time ago that made this rifle look good, looked like it'd been in back of a Coal truck on a daily haul. Sure took some cleaning and I had refinish it, now it's squirrel head accuracy every shot, and a pleasure to look at!
Sad to see someone let a rifle get in this shape tho, but don't mean it's done for!

People have a soft spot in their hearts for handi-capable pets too

merely being blind, or missing a limb or two does not stop people anymore from wanting to adopt and care for them

------ and to this i shout a "Hell yes !!"

As for the levergun? == ehhhhhh - spent some time on a boat or in a damp basement evidently -- unfold a lot of bucks and send it to Turnbull or Reeder or someone lesser known who still does great work , and this caterpillar turns into a butterfly ! -- or just clean it up and shoot it as is -- the appearance is repulsive to me , but i like old "patina" trucks so im sure others feel the same way about that

(not mine)

That’s a beaut. Have you seen some of the abominations they call tactical leverguns?

Push come to shove we’d likely take a lesson from the French by using whatever weapon is at hand and then collecting the weapons of our enemies.

.
Reminds me of a photo I saw of a wrinkled and scarred American Indian lady taken in the 1800’s and she looked to be 150 years old. The wear and tear surely represented a lifetime of stories, triumph, defeats, and perhaps abuse or neglect.

Not ‘ugly’ just ‘worn’ - or in this case beyond ‘well-worn’ and into ‘extremely-worn’….

just looks forlorn to me. needs a caring care-giver to highlight the positive. might be the barn gun. might have been lifted out of the barn by a twister and deposited in a crik two counties away. yeah, that's a good narrative for this one, The Survivor.

Well. with the closeups, i partially rescind my opinion of this ugly duckling turning into a swan --- sheesh. Unless its a very low pressure round, i dont think id even want to shoot it (just noticed it was a .22 -- might be okay for plinking then

I'd own it. I'd not pay $200 for it, but I'd own it.

Somewhere I saw a rifle that had a couple of deep pits. The owner had silver solder applied to them to fill the holes. It was actually pretty attractive, it drew attention to the spot, but pleasant attention. Course with the above rifle, it'd be a silver plated gun by the time you got through.
