Nope, not presently. You can check ammoseek once a month or so and if you want to pay $5+ per round you could check GunBroker.

Hornady must have done a run of them at some point within the past year because I picked up one box I don't remember how many months ago for I think $65-75 which is for sure as cheap as you can expect to pay for that cartridge these days

Give me a few days to dig around and see if I can find it, bare with me cancer, hernia surgery and bad back make for a slow moving old man.

Hey Fellers, starline should have some brass pretty soon. They show not in stock but you can order it. That usually means 2 or 3 weeks, if they aren't going to run some soon they won't let you buy it now. I've bought a lot of brass from them and they are first class fokes to deal with.... John

The folks at Starline are top notch. Thanks for the tip.

I you're a handloader, you can currently get the Barnes 220 and 250 grain Originals at Midway. Also, Fury Custom Bullets has a 220 grain bonded core that's nice.

Once Starline makes a run of brass, you should be in business.

I've still got a couple of cases of the Winchester 200 grain Silvertips on hand. If you're in a pinch for an upcoming hunt, shoot me a PM and I'll send you a couple of boxes.

I appreciate that. Not planning anything just now but I do want to start planning a hunt in the future.

Not really. I’ve had a Browning 71 for a long time and I’ve never shot it. I owned an original Winchester at one time and it was a really good rifle. Lots of power in a very comfortable package.

I would like to work up a load that does well in this rifle. But I don’t have a real plan at this time.

Ah so a new old project.
I've always admired the 348 cartridge, I've never had a chance to shoot one though. A Ruger #1 or a double would be great in my mind.

Gunny,

I just love the stock on these guns. Feels like it was custom made for me. My understanding is that Winchester was looking at this as a replacement for many of the 1886 cartridges but to be the equal to the .30-06.

As I recall my old Winchester favored 200 gr Silvertips. Alas that load has been discontinued.

Buffalo Bore appears to have it in stock, if you can get over the sticker shock--$120 for a box of 20!

Those are loaded with the Barnes Originals in 250 grain. They are hard on the shoulder. I lasted one box full and haven't ordered any since.

I assume you don't have the dies lying around for 348 since you asked about loaded ammo.

I got lucky and put away some of the factory stuff when they last ran it. Even the factory 200's are pretty stiff rounds.

I've ordered some of these to try out ... maybe around 2900fps.

.
It does remind me of why some folks won't bother with anything that's not "military" - even the old 30-06 and 45 ACP will likely be in production another few decades.

Yet for the best performance, and for the most fun, and in certain kinds of guns/actions, you just can't get what you need with 30-06 Spr, 308 Win, 223 Win, 45 ACP and 9 Lug.

Thankfully with modest handloads and a decent firearm, you can often re-load brass cases many times.

I have no idea what the maximum would be for a levergun in 348 Win, but I've had friends reload straight-wall 38 Special many dozens of times with 'target' loads.

You can go pretty far on cases if you shoot in one rifle and neck size only. I think it was @Sixgun who pointed me in that direction. I think he was shooting cast in a 71 competitively.

Montana Bullet Works makes a good looking cast bullet.
