I have a problem

This is my daughter's 92, which she left on the ranch, and forgot about it.

I asked her to give it to me, AND she didn't say No!

I reminded her that she will get it back when my transfer comes through. No response.

So I will be escorting it to a certain cache for safety and protection duties.

The roll marks . . . 45 COLT, AMADEO ROSSI MADE IN BRAZIL, MODEL 92 SRC INTERARMS ALEXANDRIA VIRGINIA, RR 17xx OF 2000

Sri. Photos are too painful from the phone...

Anyone familiar with this model ?

Awful guns, simply horrible.

Best send it to me so I can make a proper disposal...

Never had that specific iteration, but the 24-inch .45 I sadly traded away while in a fever was a perfect gem. Given a decent price I'd snatch up a new one tomorrow.

this was a limited run, i wonder if it was a market test. it's not particularly accurate. My wife and daughter, both good shots, get the same results i do. Plus daughter preferred my 45/70 because she "knew the gun fired when she pulled the trigger". She got a guide gun because she liked mine.

when i get home i'll see if i can accurize thus. Model 92 is my favorite rifle. it needs some exercise...

hope you find yours . . .

Edit: Mine has the same Rossi/Interarms markings without the "NumberX of" serial number, the s/n has an SS prefix with a number in the high 6XXX range. Never slugged it but the bore is tight enough to shoot well with .452's. I found that the rear sight elevator notches were pretty close to right on with the Ideal 454190 in traditional/standard pressure loads. I've loaded mine up to where recoil became uncomfortable, but stick to standard or maybe a bit +P-ish loads these days. It's a handy little number.

One hint... they don't like the rear barrel band cinched down tight. I have two examples in .357 and they both responded well to loosening of the band screw, a little Lock-Tite to hold the screw in place...

Thanks, that's good info. I'd like to find some underwood 250Gr or so. If it shoots that then its a great companion to the 1911...

it is a news note that daughter still has not said "no", AND she is already well under way on a 4 month voyage towing a huge barge to great and awesome places.

I will be quietly careful with the new rifle

Nice!

I’ll sneak this question in here - the Rossi’s that are in rifle configuration - is there much different about them or are they similar quality to the carbine style ones?
(The rifle style being without barrel bands etc)

I have two carbines, a fancy engraved one with a gold-toned receiver and a std one. Both were about equal in terms of roughness of action and needing a fair amount of polishing and general smoothing to feed and eject reliably at cowboy action speeds. Both had fair wood to metal fit, the engraved one has a slightly better grade of wood, and I'd say the better fit of the two. My "short rifle" version is from a different importer, has a better grade of wood than the std. carbine, but the toe of the buttplate is proud of the wood. It also needed a lot of smoothing to work quickly and reliably. Unlike the two carbines which were both .38/.357, the "Short F Rifle" is a 45 Colt. Which has fewer issues in feeding, etc.

I didn't have the luxury of having it available to me, but I definitely recommend Nate Kiowa Jones DVD, ejector spring & magazine follower if you're going to do the work yourself. The feeling of accomplishment to having done yourself it wonderful!
