May need a few more rainy weekends- (gun magazine stash found)
Cleaning out a closet in a seldom used part of the house and came upon a treasure trove of reading material that i thought had long since been sent to a recycle bin of some sort ---- these are just the ones applicable to this group -- tons more home improvement periodicals and the like that i'd like to re-visit as well

I was pretty happy when i found that stash --- im guessing since that was a quarterly that that is a few years worth
It will take me a while to read through these, but would be very cool to find someone to convert them to pdf format somehow --- ive tried stuff like that with single articles, but for a guy without any specialized equipment it was painfully slow

SCORE!
Agreed. I imagine we'd be violating copyrights if we had someone with the proper equipment convert articles into individual PDF's. I bet we'd get enough people here to make the cost really low...

Doug ! Be like Six and just sell one or two per year to finance retirement. Or rent them out like VHS tapes! Opportunity knocks. :lol:Streetstar wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:19 pmRube Burrows wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 4:11 pm Should you ever want to discard them please let me know. Great ideas both Grizz ! I could also re-model the garage into a lounge and have plenty of craft bourbons, designer coffee's and overstuffed leather chairs to host like minded individuals who just want to come over and read old magazines, books and shoot the breeze about all things outdoors

----- this actually sounds like a great idea for a podcast or a YouTube series too

I've been doing the same with American Rifleman magazines. Right now there are all the complete years from 1975 through 1990 in my stash along with a bunch of Guns & Ammo and Shooting Times also from that era. It's amazing what a wealth of knowledge AR Magazine had to offer back then with in-depth, well written articles by the individuals who penned them.

I use to like reading gun mags but most of the stores where I live stopped selling them .I remember questioning a clerk about that and she said Chapters was against promoting gun violence and then I said how come then they are selling dope magazines since dope is illegal and there is a lot of violence connected with the sale of it.She just stood there with a dumb blank look on her face which said it all. This is the world we are currently living in

^^^ Good point^^^ It really is the world we live in. People are so self absorbed that they can't see the woods for the trees.

Typical ignorant reply. How many of you think these gang bangers, muggers and the like are sitting home reading Shooting Times? The fact is they aren't and published gun magazines don't promote gun violence- HOLLYWOOD does!
I normally keep all my subscription magazines for about 3 years, setting aside those with pertinent to me articles then after the 3 year mark I bundle them up and recycle them...it's getting to be that time.
As for the RIFLEMAN , I'm sick of the way it's more advertising than substantial articles. Seems like I hardly have any interest in what is printed on the pages anymore.

Nice finds. I just round one of last years Handloader Magazines that I'd misplaced in a stack of books. I keep a lot of magazines, but not all of them. I went to the recycling trailer a few years back and right on top was some gun and fishing magazines from the 1990s. I grabbed them all, the forgot about them until I found them again a little while back. I was a kid in the 90s, and those fishing magazines was where my nose was during that time.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
