Been having a good bit of FTF out of my Browning Buck Mark.
Folks on Rimfire central lead me in right direction . Took it apart found the buffer was destroyed . #1 cause of FTF on these apparently. Ordered two new factory replacements but may make one out of high impact resin used in hydraulic hammers see if it holds up better. The old open bolt sub guns used leather could possible form one.

Delrin is a great material! Used in non marring hammers and easily machined.

Leather would be hard to beat but more difficult to form the protruding boss. Probably wet form it with die over saddle Leather.

This happened to the BBM I bought in 1994 around 2020. Found a replacement online (ebay, IIRC) and switched it out. Well, replaced it, because mine crumbled, much like yours. New one works perfectly.

That makes me hesitate to get a buckmark.

I think these are good, accurate .22 pistols. Prices have gone up a bit faster than other guns maybe, but that's probably more of being a Browning than other brands (Browning is very proud of their stuff - usually with good reason). This is a minor part and my lasted over a quarter century. Not too bad.

These factory new replacements are medium density rubber and flexible. Is this a new type?

No matter what these will fail over time. Solvents/oils and most of all ozone with rubberized products will deteriorate them.
With 22s I only clean when the gun stops functioning, then completely scatter the gun for a deep clean. That way you can inspect buffers( if they have one) replace if necessary. Use pinpoint lubrication instead of hosing it down.

Everything back together ,fired three mags for testing with CCI SV .Couldn't use it before. Worked perfect.
Fourth mag for accuracy , fired and Jammed on second.
Cleared it ,reloaded fired 9 more without issue.
Best target for at 25 yards Standing offhand at 3 5/8" span
I think the Tandemkross one piece guide rod is in my future .
