Any Boomers recall this toy from the early 1960s?
We had the usual Lincoln Logs and Tinkertoys, but no Erector sets. There were so many Boeing engineers' kids in the neighborhood that I would have gotten a complex trying to match their creations. But there was another "construction" toy a bit like the Tinkertoy idea, but with plastic straws and flat plastic sprockets with a hole in the middle. You could slide a straw over one of the teeth of the sprocket, or slide it through the hole in the center. Compared to the wooden Tinkertoy parts, these were absolutely useless when thrown at annoying little brothers, but they allowed the construction of simple, somewhat flexible structures. Ringing any bells out there?

Doesn't ring a bell, but then we never had a lot of toys growing up.

I seem to remember something like that, but I thought the round sprocket things were wood... could be wrong.... time for a goober search...

I built plastic models ,then melted the plastic with lighter and blue them up with fire crackers for simulated wrecks

Yup, us too!Gunstore Commando wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:51 pm No idea. I was too busy playing with one of these.
Between all the smoke from the melted plastic and the xylene from the model glue, plus all the "Don't sniff this" (but yeah, we would!) concoctions we'd whip up with our chemistry sets -- it's a wonder I can even breathe!

We would take the lite-brite pegs and melt them, fusing them into various object - most of which ended up being thrown at each other!

It took some two-inchers to finally blow up my little brother's Texaco tanker.
