My dad is always up to something.
A couple of the guys here know that this October has just been a little tough to deal with.
Oct. 4th I was involved in a hit an run accident on the highway. Little creep slammed into the front quarter panel of my company vehicle, took off down the off ramp and into several large parking lots. Lady behind me saw the whole thing, went a different direction and got his license plate number. Local PD caught up with him a couple days later. He actually had insurance. Still negotiating w/ nationwide on that one.
Two days later, I went in for a minor surgical procedure that turned complicated a few days later and ended up back in the hospital for several days. Finally got out with a couple weeks of home healthcare and IV antibiotics. Last day for that is today. Hoping to get back to work by next Monday, at least for some desk reviews, etc.
During this whole time, missed the trip to the cabin to winterize it for the year and spend some time with the
kid #1 and the Old Man. My dad knew I was bummed about the whole thing, hospital stay, etc. and decided to stop by this weekend.
We had been talking about getting a pair of the new S&W M&P .22 Magnums all summer so when he stopped by he hands me a black box and says happy early birthday.
He had gone and bought the M&Ps and was planning on giving me one for the trip to PA.
Can't wait to get out to the range for a little "therapy"!
He did say that his shot quite well after running a couple of magazines through it.
Needless to say, it definitely improved my mood.

Jason, I am very sorry to hear you have had such a "rum go" this month, as Long John Silver might have put it!

Good grief Jason, had no idea you were in an accident or you had medical issues but you sure have a great Dad!
Maybe Santa will bring you a case of 22 mags!

Thanks Guys! Last night was the last of the IV treatments. What a pain! 3+hrs, twice a day!
Can't say enough about my wonderful wife! She was really intimidated by the IV thing, but the visiting nurse walked her through a couple and now she's a real pro.
My dad's heading back to FL soon and relly looking forward to the M&P. At 82, it's his first "plastic pistol".
Be safe out there! Ya never know what could happen next!

Keep a watch on your health, you don't get many "do-overs" with it! Nice gift. I agree, you got a special Dad, keep him. I went to the VA to get a CT scan of my abdomen a week ago last Monday & was told they didn't have any unfilled orders from my Doctor. Called the VA Clinic and they told me the last order was on "hold", but should've been taken off when they made the appointment a month ago... new appointment ain't for another six weeks now. Then yesterday, had an appointment with my dermatologist, and he scrapped a couple of places on my face for biopsies and froze several more plus on my hands and arms... then told me to break out the nuclear cream and be ready to do another face treatment when the current injuries heal. Hate that stuff. Chemical peel... burns thru layers of skin and leaves you all scabbed over. Eventually heals, but the process plain hurts once the skin starts to crack & open.
On the plus side, UPS just dropped off my new 5lb jug of Reloder 7! Back to loading some more .30-30 with cast! Planning on a range trip tomorrow to verify zeros & see if I can get good readings on the chronograph.

Re: My dad is always up to something.
Thanks Griff!
I have several doctors and "specialists" looking after me since this fiasco. I have a lot of follow up apts. to get through in the coming months, but so far all is well. I've been bugging the one in charge, her assistant at least, to let me return for "light work" next week. She finally agreed to desk work only until March. I know the company I work for will be fine with that, we're short on adjusters and there's a lot I can do from my office. I'm just not one for sitting around and getting paid for doing nothing.
By the way, I have two containers of Reloader 7 downstairs and have no idea why I bought them. Looks like some .30-30s are coming up soon.

Thanks Earl,
Looking forward to feeling well enough to get back down in my reloading room and do something besides sit around.
