This morning I decided to stop by my local gun shop {KTP}
The guy behind the counter was bringing a good-looking lever action to the floor.
A 92% to 95% pre safety Marlin R.C.
I checked it out thoroughly, the gentleman let me pull the bolt.
The bore was perfect! Lands and groves were crisp like the rifle were made yesterday!
To top it off it was in 35 Remington! Years ago, I had one that I had to sell to pay an insurance bill.
It has a Lyman peep site on it. After checking the ser.# it was made in 1954.
Looks like it was hunted with a few times, shot very little.
Long story short, I'm drinking a few Guinness and breaking this vintage beauty down for a good cleaning!
I picked it up for $695.00. I'm pretty happy with that price! These days a decent vintage lever action is a grand at least!
The boys at my shop are looking for some 35 Remington for me.
I'm dying to shoot this one! Marlins and Winchesters are my Kryptonite!
Enjoy your Sunday afternoon gentleman!
Johnny

Great and underappreciated cartridge in a humble but great gun, made during a good era of manufacturing quality.
Hard to beat all that.
Hard to beat all that.

The same thing has happened to Me more than once. the last was a Marlin CL .218 Bee with a sling and a box of ammo, must have been stored under a bed . the dealer put it on the rack dusty, dirty, they gave it away, and it cleaned up 80% new . enjoy this new one. .

I've been chasing one of those for years. Never in the right place at the right time. Love the .218 Bee, great little cartridge and does a number on the woodchucks..45colt wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 3:56 pm The same thing has happened to Me more than once. the last was a Marlin CL .218 Bee with a sling and a box of ammo, must have been stored under a bed . the dealer put it on the rack dusty, dirty, they gave it away, and it cleaned up 80% new . enjoy this new one. .
