Why? Just ... why?
That's always been my response to all the hand cannons, or powerful rifle cartridges! Just how much overkill does a guy need? If it hurts the shooter, then what good is it?
A BFR in 45-70 with some of Randy Garrett's finest is a tad too much for me. Green box 405s are a piece of cake.
That BFR is one of the few I totally regret trading off. Grizz and I had a lot of fun with that one.

That looks like fun,I' m gonna hold out for the slightly larger frame 50 bmg version.
Much as I wish people were a little more reasonable I do remember an article in some gun magazine in the 80s were some one had taken a 1911 frame and built a single shot 50BMG hand gun on it.
People who buy these guns are the same kind of people who buy 700 hp Hell Cats....bragging rights.......the owners seldom use these to their full potential. .......they have lots of loot and want one of everything......ain't it great in America?.....the more guns out there in law abiding folks hands,,the stronger we are...except cheap foreign guns.....
It dont matter how reasonable, frugal or ingenious we are. We all have that certain gene that makes us want stuff we have no use or need for.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

I wouldn't mind a BFR in 30/30 just to DOWNLOAD to 32/20 velocities! Used to have a Ruger Blackhawk in 30 carbine BEFORE I got into reloading, man was that a LOUD sucker! Still kick myself for selling it off.

ya know, there was a time when fishermen had to be intentional about shaking hands, it was not too difficult to break somebody's hand. ask me how I know. nowdays i been losing my grip. somebody might be able to relate. cowboys and farmers and oil drillers who need a vice grip to keep from dropping the heavy object on the tender feet. in their prime, they would not have admitted that the derringer was any more than a drop in the bucket. the 45 Colt seemed kinda weak by comparison.
just sayin, we see that video and forget the way we were. or i see that video and forget the way i was . . . :)
