The Vaquero obsession continues
Can't seem to resist the large frame Vaqueros lately. This one had some truly awful grips on it but that was an easy fix with a set of AZ grips I'd bought for another Ruger. They just didn't look right on a stainless frame.
The less common 3 3/4" barrel on this .45 Colt is what caught my attention.

Nice find; very nice indeed. I still regret not buying a large framed .41 Rem. Magnum Vaquero when they were available.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

Colors look great! That short barrel will make a nice belly gun. Those grips however look like they have seen a thousand miles of holster wear? Nothing wrong but boy they look beat.

Re: The Vaquero obsession continues
I would have jumped on that Vaquero for the barrel length alone!
The early large frame Vaquero are nice for us guy with X large hands.
I foolishly let a large frame Bisley Vaquero 45 colt go a few years back.
I'm still kicking myself for that! It shot lights out!

I don't think strange quite covers the oddness level. Ironically, they don't look all that bad on a stainless revolver. Not that I'm going to keep them.

Nice one. I bought a new small frame this week, but I still would prefer an old model.

Re: The Vaquero obsession continues
I bought one of the Bisley Vaqueros in .44 Magnum when they first came out. I really enjoyed shooting that one but after I'd gotten my SBH re-worked by Bowen, I just wasn't shooting it and traded it off for something. I'm watching one just like it now, so we'll see what happens.JOG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 6:15 pm I would have jumped on that Vaquero for the barrel length alone!

I think those with 3.75" bbl. were a run of 3000? for Davidsons? Here's mine with the factory grips. I love it!

I never see any for less than $700 lately. You ever experimented with 2 round balls fir a close range defense round. I been shooting mainly 185 and 200gr SWC or FP's in my 45's.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: The Vaquero obsession continues
I managed to grab this one for just over $700. There's on on GB right now that's over $900, but it has the box, etc.
I haven't tried a round ball load. Sounds like fun.
