Agreed.
It looks a handgun I used to draw way back in the 3rd or 6th grade -- that did not get me expelled, sent to counseling or brought up on criminal threatening charges.

I saw that too. Was just looking at the 44 Colt round so seeing it labeled as "LC" was a bit of a jolt.

Re: Ace Snubby.....
I believe they meant "45 LC" since the .44 Remington is actually a .45 caliber.

Re: Ace Snubby.....
True. I'd not yet got around to THAT angle yet, having just been looking at the 44 Colt and cogitating on it a bit. Just can't get past the healed bullet. Weird, I know, but the 480 Achilles appeals to me more than the 44 Colt. Yes, it's just a smidge larger diameter, but the bullets used in it (the ones I've seen anyway) look more "businesslike" than the pointy 44 Colt.
Anyway, back to the "44 LC", now I'm REALLY curious as to what it is since the "44 Colt" was actually a 45 caliber, designed for use in bored through 1860 cylinders for the conversions Colt used until S&W's patent expired on the cylinder style necessary for the next step in modernizing sixguns. Did they mess up and call the 44 Colt a "44 LC" and the guns are actually chambered for the 44 Colt, or did they mess up and call a 45 Colt a "44 LC". The difference ain't TOO much between the two cartridges (diameter wise) but the difference between healed and inside lubricated is important.

Around here, even pointing a finger gun, or a stick on school property will get a kid suspended, or expelled.

Re: Ace Snubby.....
I've never messed with those pellets. I'm guessing 30 grain equivalent? Maybe 25? (See? I'm not even sure what increments they come in!) I like the look of that slug though. Should be a very effective projectile.

Re: Ace Snubby.....
Interesting. So I was right on my first guess, 30 grain equivalent. Someday I need to pick up another Lee conical mold for my Old Army. That was a good projectile back in the day. In the meantime I soldier on with roundballs, which are nothing to sneeze at. I also need to spend more time with the Pietta 1860. Never did any load development other than "dump in powder, seat ball, smear with Crisco". That is one SMOOTH handling pistola.

Re: Ace Snubby.....
I'm sure they did given the bore dimensions.
Interesting. Mike Belliveau (sp?), a.k.a. "duelist54" on YouTube (and prolific gun author) did a project several years back cutting back a 1858 into a bulldog style gun. He also fitted it with a .45 Colt conversion cylinder and made a loading port in the recoil shield. This is practically that gun.

Re: Ace Snubby.....
Still thinking this is pretty slick.
Stupid question; can you press the bullets in by hand or do you need one of those loading stands I've seen advertised for BP revolvers?
I've had a '51 Navy since I was about 10, but it's the only BP revolver I've had.

Re: Ace Snubby.....
Cool!
Thanks Ray!
There has been a guy on gunbroker making Sheriff style revolvers out of older Italian copies. Thought some of them were pretty cool. He doesn't have any up right now, but I'll keep watching.
