How Long To Order A New Ruger GP100?
The shelves are bare, but I wonder how long it would take to order one at the toy store?

Probably depends upon if the dealer can obtain one from the supplier or if Ruger has any in stock. What calibre --.44 Spec'l., .357, or what?? Just for kicks, try at the Ft Lewis exchange about ordering one.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

I like the Speed/Security Sixes, and the GP100’s are probably even better. One in 44 Special would be great; I like a gun that wouldn’t permanently deafen me if fired without protection, so I’ve gotten away from the 357 Mags. Heavier billets at slower velocities work well at close range. For hunting I’ll use a magnum-velocity gun with a long barrel though.

What Jim said. Just be patient and you'll bag one you like. I use it quite often.

Doc, you can shoot .38 Special in a .357. You know that!
A .44 Special may not be a fast cartridge, but I am not stupid enough to stand in front of the gun to see if it causes harm. A .44 Special out of a GP 100 should be very effective for close range interpersonal crisis situations without causing ruptured eardrums. Then there is the bigger entry hole versus a .357 Mag.

I only have two .357s....A Ruger 50th Anniversary Blackhawk that I broke and Ruger sent back to me in new condition, and that 19-2 that is virtually new condition. I really don't want to shoot those a bunch, if at all.

Re: How Long To Order A New Ruger GP100?
I seen a couple that looked new at a gun show last weekend. One was a six inch full lug but don't remember if the four inch had a full lug or not because I wasn't looking for one.

I might not have read this right, but I don't think Blaine mentioned what caliber he wants it chambered for or barrel length. Please advise Old Friend. -Tutt

I have one of the .44 Special, stainless steel, with the 3" barrel. It is an awesome revolver!

Re: How Long To Order A New Ruger GP100?
I walked into my local gun store looking to see any GP-100, I wanted to see if I liked it or not. I really wanted a L framed S&W but alas they don't make one in 10mm. So I asked if they had any and Karen said why yes, we have one in .357 and one in 10mm, Wow! A 10mm is just what I was looking for. So after examining it very carefully I handed it back and said I would think about it. Well two hours later I went back to buy it and it was GONE! I should have put a hold on it, she would have held it for me but honestly I didn't think anyone was interested in it, it had been in the case for a long time, but it's gone now.
I'm currently looking for another one but not very hopeful.

10mm, when you care enough to send the very best.

A 10 would be cool, but I'm afraid if I get any new calibers I couldn't find ammo for them.flightsimmer wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 2:56 pm I walked into my local gun store looking to see any GP-100, I wanted to see if I liked it or not. Re: How Long To Order A New Ruger GP100?
10mm is a good caliber, and I have one, but my preference in a revolver would be .357 Mag.
Pairing a .357 Mag revolver and a .357 Mag levergun is probably the best single cartridge pairing for any hunting I would be doing anymore.

Been wanting a 10mm Marlin on steroids for a long time now. McPherson is retired now from gunsmithing, not sure who could even make it for me now. -Tutt

Re: How Long To Order A New Ruger GP100?
If someone would make a 10mm in a levergun, it would pair well with a 1911 in the same caliber. They would still look old time, but would be a little more power. Probably would sell.
