OT - HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM WHEN ON A BUDGET
HOW TO INSTALL A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM WHEN ON A BUDGET :
1 Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men's used size 14-16
work boots
2. Place them on your front porch, along with several empty beer cans,
a copy of Guns & Ammo magazine and several NRA magazines.
3. Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazines.
4. Leave a note on your door that reads:
'Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim, I went to the gun shop for more
ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls -- they
attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't
think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the blood.
P S - I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside.'

Thirty years ago after a break-in
we recorded our answering machine message to say
:
"Please leave a message - we may be in town buying some nice stuff you can steal next time we're gone. Or . . . we may be sitting up on the hill behind the house with a .30-06 just to wait for you. Guess which and have a nice day."

A big dog may save YOUR life. My Sister lives in a rural area. two years ago she was home on a nice summer day. She was in the front room watching T.V. and a car pulled around back of the house by the back porch.
She looked out the windows and saw two longhair lowlifes looking in the windows and then one grabbed the screendoor that was locked. He said to His partner No ones's home......about then My Sister said Her two 100# Rottweilers attacked the door
and they left in a hurry. Lord knows what would have happened without the dogs.Jim.

Even a small dog may save your life.......My last Terror, er, Terrier was a little chainsaw and would die for you. This new Terror is about 8 mo and learning that I like to know when he hears something......

Agreed - any dog is better than no dog. Often the smaller ones make a lot more noise - and a lot of times, it is the noise that wards off the ner-do-wells more effectively than anything else...BlaineG wrote:Even a small dog may save your life.......My last Terror, er, Terrier was a little chainsaw and would die for you. Years ago while live'n in a urban apartment I left Gun "porn" mags and nicely vented targets on the couch
!Now I live in a rural area (the county just paved the road last year)and my wife is retired and stays home. She luv's her winnie 94 in 30-30 and lord knows she knows how to shoot it(it is on the Mantel)
!I leave my work boots on the porch and the Beagle sounds like a plott hound when it sounds off.

A guy I was chatting guns with online one time says brb...After about two -three mins he's back..Says some nut case had walked into his house and was attempting to make a sandwich there in his kitchen...Now I know that he's a deputy sheriff.. so I figured right away he threw down on him with his Glock...He said "Nah.. I just grabbed him by the belt & collar and threw him off the back deck... he said about an 8ft drop & called it good..& called the local PD & resumed chatting... Lol...
