It could be modified to hit harder. Some chalk dust would fix that political sound.

I can see lots of uses for that, good way to put gas checks on bullets, flattening aluminum cans, declawing cats, heck you could even crack walnuts! Nice bit of engineering!

Love the looks of that machine, Pitchy, but really can't stand the sound. Sorta like my ex-wife, to think of it...
Well we got a x wife and a lonesome cat, it`s a terrible sound alright
I won`t be using it much and have no plans of improvements to the design just wanted to build a replica of the original.
Thanks for the replies guys.

I didn`t have a side view picture of the cam when i built it now found one so had to re profile the cam so it would hammer fast.
Also added a bungy cord to give it more power, a spring would look better but didn`t have one at the moment.

That is a cool way to save wear and tear on your wrists. It may not hit real hard, but it looks like enough power for a lot of forging. My limited experience is that a fer hard blows with a big hammer and then a lot of lighter hits with a smaller hammer on good hot steel will get you what you want. Yes, the different steels may need more or less power. Ball bearing steel is hard to move. Good old OCS is pretty easy to work.
