WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
Just my opinion:

Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
Good looking pistol. Sam Colt designed some of the best looking handguns ever.

Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
I once had a Pietta clone, it was a really nice looking pistol but unfortunately not the best quality...

I keep it quiet around where I live, but I am from the State where the last battle of The War Between The States was fought. Still some raw feelings from the aftermath of that conflict.

Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
Still, I can't say that I fought it. I am not nearly old enough to have been in it. Great Grandfather on one side was a Cavalry soldier under Myles Keough.

That bottom one looks really familiar...
Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
There was an original Engraved Colt Paterson in excellent condition in Vegas around 20 years ago, he told me to pick it up when I was eyeballing it.
Price $319,000.-

Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
I always liked the pocket navy more myself. However the pocket police revolvers are nice.
Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
Great cap and ball revolvers. I've read several times that the most popular of the Colts was their 31 cal revolver. Is this true ?

I lie nearly all the Colt C&Bs, but my favorite remains the 1851!

Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
I don't collect Colts I'm a Remington guy but...
I had a 4 digit (civilian) model 1873 (excellent condition) that was shipped to prussia in a lot of 50 and returned because they were 44 S&W and not 44 Russian.
They recut the cylinder (oval to rectangle) and shipped it out as new 18 years later, so it says on the paper... (all long gone)

Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
I first held a Pocket police (original) when I was 10 or 11 and fell in love with it. They are the best looking of all Colt's revolvers and they just feel right in the hand, did when I was kid and still do today. The pocket Navy is heavier out front and it actually holds steadier because of that. I have both with 6 1/2" barrels, I don't care for shorter barreled cap & ball revolvers.
Re: WORLD'S PRETTIEST PISTOL
I haven't shot either the 1861 or 1862 but they sure are easy on the eyes. May have to correct that.
I've been shooting my Remingtons and 1851 quite a bit lately, it had been a couple years and I don't know how I let that happen. Cap and ball revolvers are just a blast! The original Rodgers & Spencer will have to makeit out to the range in the near future.
