Big boar
Big boar taken near the town of São Jorge - Coxilha Rica - Municipality of Lages/SC, on June 20 last. Rifle used was a Rossi Puma in .44 magnum. Bullet was an RCBS 240 gr SWC at 1630 fps.
Kilroy with the handgun is there just to show momma he would have done it should he could. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

That pig would certainly mess up a field of grain. I don't want to run into one that size without an equalizer.

Re: Big boar
Nice!
I shot a pig years ago, 222 lbs of meat, was the best pork I've ever had. Though that pig is a bit bigger than mine.

That... Is a big hog.
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

Re: Big boar
Anybody has a guess of how much it weighed?
Re: Big boar
It's hard to tell from photographs, because all photos are from the side, but I'll make a wild guess... 700lbs?

In the message I got, the hunter stated 682 kg, which translates into 1,502 pounds. There's no way to convince me this is true. If I saw the scale reading I wouldn't believe it. If I weighed the hog myself and found this reading I wouldn't believe it.
Re: Big boar
If it's true... HOLY COW!
But I have to say that I don't quite believe it.
Then again... It wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong.
It's still a huge animal.

Re: Big boar
Great trophy and thanks for posting it.
Photos can be very misleading, like one with the hunter 5 feet behind the GIANT Cape Buffalo, elephant, or bison. Such photos also make hunting rifles look to be anti-tank guns.
Without scales, we (land owner, dog handler, skinner, etc) all guesstimated this one to be 600 pounds.
In this pic, I am about 1/2 behind and 1/2 to the side. The dead boar back to the left was estimated to be 250 pounds and Hogzilla appeared to be 3 times that size.
Without proper scales we will never know.
Do you have a photo of a man sitting or standing beside or in front of the hog?

Re: Big boar
Heck of a big hog, but I doubt the 1500 lb. estimate. Might even be twice it's actual weight.

Re: Big boar
I do not. I do have a video clip of the hog being dragged by a tractor, but have no idea of how to post it here.crs wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 9:22 am Great trophy and thanks for posting it.
