Added a Skinner peep sight to the Guide Gun

Post by piller »

I added a Skinner peep sight to the new Guide Gun. I know, I'm adding gadgets to it even before I shoot it. I don't think this makes it a Rooney gun, and it seems to be useful.

What I like about it is that it seems solid and strong, and the small interior peep is removable to leave a ghost ring sight. What do you gents think?

I like it!

If there's a version that looks "antiquish" I bet it would look good on my 1895CB...hmmmm.......

Skinner makes a good sight. I have the same sight on my 1894C. I did replace the front sight with a Williams Firesight to help my aging eyes.

Doc Skinner will make the sight for you in brass, if that would be antique enough for you.

I haven't replaced the front sight yet, but I have to confess that I have not had a day off since I got it and it is sadly unfired. I'll have to correct that next week when I have a day off.

Looks good...I have a GS with a Ghost Ring for a back up. Also, have a Leupold 2.5X (German Post) mounted forward of the reciever with quick detachable rings. My eyes just ain't young anymore...

Piller, looks good to me. I ordered a Brass peep sight and front sight from him yesterday. Tim told me he was out of stock on the Brass 1894 sights so he's making some more up this weekend and will ship mine off Monday. Have you changed the front sight yet?

I just was at Tim Skinner's house and shop today, getting both a Skinner sight for my 1895G and my son's 336C. And while I was at it, I stopped by Ronan Sport & Western and picked up a 250 ct box of Rim Rock Bullets 405-gr RNFP bullets for my 1895G since we don't have any places in Kalispell that carry cast bullets.

My Brass Skinner sight's came in today. Got the Peep sight installed but don't have a vise so it might be a while before I install the new front blade. Am going to try to get out tomorrow or Saturday to try it out.
