LGS ALERT! "Guns you never see for sale" Marlin 1894CSS in .357
SN 91xx5x03. Safety and rail. Used, looks good.
Edit: screw it. I just bought it. It's too rare to leave to the plebes.
So... It's in my safe until... Whenever. Cost me $840 OTD. Used my "replace the chest freezer" stash.
Pics when I get the chance.

Yeah - a few years ago I got the fever for a stainless 1894 Marlin in 357 Mag as "the ideal woods-walking gun", and got in line to order one - only I got in line to order one on THREE different sites. I scored two of 'em, and one is basically LNIB, and the other I did a home-brew 'matte-finish' on it, and made it into a 'Night Scout' with the holosight/light/laser setup I like so much. It is still handy and compact and - an "ideal woods-walking gun", but is also a great "bump in the night" gun.
Hard not to like the 1894 in 357 Mag....!

I like my '92... But then, I'm a Top Feeder.
I didn't buy this "for me" as a shooter, but ... because I couldn't let it get away to someone who wouldn't appreciate it.
Dammit.

Someone here on Leverguns will probably want it sooner or later, and you can rest assured it gets appreciated - and maybe turn $20 profit for the hassle...

Profit? All I care about is eventually replacing the Freezer Stash before it's disappearence is noticed.
That and a Levergunnner getting an uncommon gun.

Very nice. Have one made in 79. Also a Rossi Trapper. I too like the 16" Rossi a bit better. It was very slick and right on out of the box.
Re: LGS ALERT! "Guns you never see for sale" Marlin 1894CSS in .357
I got a notice from Bud's gun shop yesterday that they had 35 1894Cs available for sale.

Many practical folks would say that levergun is the ULTIMATE 'only-one-gun' carbine.
I might argue the 45 Colt is better (see my other thread that got WAY off the intended track), but a 357 Mag levergun can do nearly everything needed except a) LONG range stuff, b) Super-powerful stuff, c) high-firepower stuff, and d) Pinpoint-accuracy stuff. Add a 338 Lapua and an AR-15, or any number of other long guns, and you have those extremes covered.
Still - 99% of what you REALLY need to do can be done with a 357 Mag levergun and the right ammunition.

Well... Yes. Like I said, I don't need two, and am happy to part with it for my cost + shipping.
I bought it to keep it from being "lost" to the great unwashed.
Other than that, I'm much more of a 92/95 guy than a 94/94 guy.

Yeah. That's the other reason I snatched it... to maybe trade for a Rossi 92SS .45/.454...AJMD429 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 2:14 pm Many practical folks would say that levergun is the ULTIMATE 'only-one-gun' carbine.

Thanks for the offer OI.....and I'm sure it's well worth it.....for the most part, I quit buying guns in the last five years...unless I can highway rob it for half of what's it's worth. I bet Fordwannabe would like it.----6Old Ironsights wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 5:14 pmWell... Yes. Like I said, I don't need two, and am happy to part with it for my cost + shipping.

Fordwannabe has a pre safety Marlin in 357 and a Rossi 16 inches in same. But thanks for thinking of me.
