Nice public boat access.
We rode up to this nice boat access the other day, its on Walker bay which is part of Leech lake.
Real nice place the access is in the back ground.
Standing on the bike trail which used to be the RR trestle.
Looking opposite of Walker bay across the highway at Capaconna bay.
From the trestle looking out across Walker bay, we might take the small boat up there next week and skirt along the point ya can see to the left and look for arrow heads.
This is looking down from the trestle at what i believe are the posts of a old trestle that they built beside the main trestle when building it.
This is where we will put the boat in and go along this shore which turns into a point way out there.
They had a old pump there which i had to try of coarse.

Re: Nice public boat access.
Nice post and pictures! Used to go to Leech Lake when we lived in MN. Spent many hours casting for muskies, and a lot of casts! Had some good ones follow, but was never lucky enough to get one. Son just about wore out a rental jet ski one weekend. Never been on one so he wanted to try. Don't think he missed an inch of shoreline. Had to buy their gas with the rental, so was an expensive treat for him, but worth it for the smile on his 12 y.o face! He is now 36 and is all over MN. and Wi. lakes as fishing is his passion, except during grouse season. His girlfriend loves both as much as he does.
Please explain the arrowhead hunting along that particular shoreline? Weathering from wave and ice over the years uncovers them? Or known old camping sites, hunting sites? Curious mind would like to know, thanks!

We have never been to that Todd, we don`t fish much any more and we don`t like being around all the people.3leggedturtle wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 9:55 am Pitchy, do you and Norma ice fish at all? Have you been to Eel Pout festival? Todd
We enjoy exploring more.

As far as searching for arrow heads in that area i guess one place is good as any since there was a lot of native American activity every where.
They can wash up on shore or be in the banks and people find them but i haven`t found one in all the years we`ve lived in the area.
They`er out there just gotta get lucky that and it`s fun to take the duck boat and explore along the shore in shallow water.
I`d like to do this middle of next week if the wind isn`t blowing and if we do will post pics here.

Re: Nice public boat access.
I have a friend here that uses his kayak to prowl the shoreline of the lakes and streams around here looking for arrowheads. He finds bunches of them.

Re: Nice public boat access.
We made it up to the big lake this morning.
Eagle keep an eye on us.
On our way to the end of the point in back ground.
Getting closer, guessing about a mile one way.
Was calm when we got there but the wind picked up of coarse.
Made it, the end of the point but we found no arrow heads.
