New one to me, I have always heard that a dog licking a cut or wound could help keep it free of infection.
Lots of sensitivities out there now, wonder if they have always been there, either instant news/ internet makes us more aware?

Re: Dog Lick Causes Limb Amputation
If you had the choice of licking:
a) another person's mouth
b) a dog's mouth
c) a toilet seat
d) another person's cellphone
The choice from a bacteriologic standpoint would be CLEARLY - the toilet seat.
Think about what dog's eat and rub their face in..... People may not be that bad, but we have germs that 'people' get even more than dogs do.
Your OWN saliva is not usually a bad thing for a wound, or the saliva of an intimate-other (hopefully the latter does NOT include your dog.... ).
