What kind of gas mileage do you guys get?

I have an F350 turbo deisel 6 liter...a beast of a truck that gets
15.4 miles to the gallon.. exactly like this one

pretty much the same with the F150 my daughter drives....
and my wife drives a Saturn that gets 30...
I plan to buy a used small car with my rebate check....
Looking at the ford focus, mazda 3 and the toyota matrix....
What do you drive....What kind of mileage do you guys get?

my 94 Ford F350 Diesel with a 7.3 litre gets 17, a mix of town with lots of freeway. I also drive a 94 Buick Roadmaster, has 60,000 miles on it, like new. Got it with 19,000 miles for 1700.00 from an estate. Got to drive it some more miles and wear it out a little, gets (would you believe?) 28 on the highway if you don't stop. 20 average with some in town. But a Corvette motor!!!, she goes.

We have a 2001 GMC that gets around 16-18 mpg and a 1996 Toyota Camry thta run s 30 mpg consistently.We do drive the Toyota to church most of the 3 trips a week 40 miles one way through the mountains.

Great post, was gonna post on this topic this evening. I have a toyota tacoma 6 cyl. Until this week, I have been driving my normal 75+ on my 104 mile round trip commute. I was getting 21.3 mpg doing this. This week, I have decided with the rising price of gas, to do the speed limits and use cruise control when possible. I have avoided fast starts and such. I kept track of differences in time to and from work also. Today, I checked my gas mileage and it was 25.64. An increase of about 17%. At the gas pump today, that meant I saved 60 cents a Gal. As I was driving in the right hand lane, people were passing me by and giving me all sorts of hand gestures and verbal greetings. VBG. My thoughts were, to get a sign for the back of my tail gate to say something like : "Hey, don't get mad at me, I'm just doing the speed limit and screwing the big Oil companies out of 17% of their money" I still may do that. I wound up getting to work in the same time this week proving to me that I just speed to the traffic tie ups. $11-$12/ tank of gas means I save 35-40$ a week, or some $2000 a year. Thats nearly a sharps a year!!!

I am currently considering starting a website linking companies and consumers interested in reducing their dependence on oil companies. If we all slowed down and did this, and saw the same results, we could cost Exxon Billions of dollars a year in their profits, and we would drive gas prices down and help the environment. This was an interesting exercise for me because I was ready to say that my time is worth something and the minutes I saved by speeding were well worth the extra gas. But the truth is nope, thats not true AND I actually enjoyed the slower pace, saw more deer, hawks and wildlife in the woods and fields along the side of the road than I normally do.

The Harley street Bob gets in the 40's, the honda super hawk in the 30's. Can't say I do the speed limit in either of those.

2000 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x4 with a 5.4 V8. ( 125,000 miles) i get 12-14 mpg on the hwy. if i pull my camper i get 8-9 mpg. i look good burning that fosil fuel.

Right now driving a 2005 GMC 2500 duramax diesel crewcab getting 18 mpg average city/highway; If I keep it under 70mph on the hiway I get 20-21 mpg but go over 70mph and I drop to 17-18 mpg. I generally only use this truck for long times to my place in MT and hauling things but since selling my Toyota I been driving this fulltime.

I just sold my 2001 Toyota Crewcab V6 and was getting 17 city and 20-21 hiway....but want to buy a Toyota FJ Cruiser V6 to replace it. My Toy crewcab was an absolute goat and would go down jeep trails that would scare the heck out of me and I hear that the FJ is even better off road. What we drive through to get to good deer country....

Wifey drives a 96 SAAB 900turbo convertible that gets about 25city and 30 hiway mileage.

08 Civic...5speed Auto.....Just did Tacoma to Medford with 10.8 gallons and still had a couple gallons left....assuming the speedo is right, that was about 39mpg.......I normally get about 30-33 average.

Mid to upper teens with our '98 and '04 Jeep Wranglers, about the same with the '97 Econoline van. We have been looking at other vehicles for about the last three years, but have yet to make the move. I like Honda Civic and FITs, and various motorcycles. My wife wants F350 Powerstroke landships, Hummers, and RVs. That is why we have yet to get any newer vehicles!

In the early to mid-90's, I liked getting 40+ MPG with my Harleys and BMW bike, and that was, of course, a totally different era regarding fuel prices. I parted with the bikes during my single dad era; now that that my son is grown, I am revisiting bikes, and fuel cost is only part of that. I do worry about my slower reaction time and generally increased clumsiness that comes with age.

1O MPG empty, loaded down or with a trailer in a 74 GMC all wheel drive truck with 5:56 gears. Don't drive that one much anymore.

I drive a 95 Nissan Pathfinder with the V6 and automatic. On the open road it gets between 25 and 28 mgp. In town no were near so good. That electronic overdrive sucks at stop and go.

My wifes 94 Nissan 2x4 PU with the 4 cyl and 5 speed will do around 20 ish in town if she holds her mouth right. On the open road much better but I don't know the numbers. She doesn't keep track like I do.

My 89 F20 I traded off for the Nissan would get maybe 15 on cruise control on the open road, in town I shudder to think of it.

If your only getting 15 mpg in a 6 leaker SD, you have an engine problem either mechanical, electrical, or programming. Ford was famous for reflashing the computor due to problems with the split shot injectors. They would do this when it was taken in for service, without telling you. A lot of guys would go in for an oil change, and when they left the dealership they thought their truck was broke. I get 14mpg in my 96 F350 7.3 deisel 4x4 crew cab, and thats climbing the Rockies passing everything in sight, and I'm running 4:10 gears and a majorly souped up engine. You should be getting close to 20 with that truck, especially if you have 3:73's which was standard for the SD's. I can get 19 in mine on flat highway. My buddy has a 6 leaker Excursion and he just drove to Arizona and got 18 with the cruise set a 85. As you know, anything over 70mph and the mileage really goes down.

My 06 Jetta that the son has now gets 45mpg, and our 07 Hyundai gets 35mpg.

Joe, I had a 94 Pathfinder....man that thing would just go in the snow...best tracking vehicle I ever had.. got great mileage on the tires about 70,000 per set. But only got 17mph in the city and 21-22 on the hiway. I miss it.....daughter took it boonie bashing one night and rolled it... but that's another story.

This one I have will plow it's way through two feet of snow. Last big snow we had I had to drive out of my snowed in driveway, through the vacant lot next door, and out to the ally. Then down the alley where even the chickenschit garbage truck drives were afraid to go. That's steel skid plate under the front just squashed the snow down and I drove right through it.

'07 Toyota Yaris (work car) 33 mixed - 38 highway, and my mileage from my company pays for gas, insurance, and the payment. I was driving the truck before... the difference in milage alone pays for the car.

I'm a little bummed that I'm only getting 18 in my 1986 Volvo 740. I was getting about 23. But now I do mostly short trips so I probably lose the difference to starts and evaporation. Best mileage in that car was 28 mpg on the expressway when the car was about 10 years old.

Still, it's worth keeping, as long as I can. Maybe they'll come up with a good solar car by the time this one passes on.

My wife's vehicle - our family vehicle - is a Chevy Suburban, and I think it averages somewhere around 16 mpg.

I drive a Chrysler 300 - it's a company car and they pay for the gas. Don't have a clue as to what gas mileage it gets! Of course, it sits at the airport parking lot half the time...

We are thinking of trading the Accord for a hybrid but it would be hard to offset the cost of a new vehicle just for the milage.

2006 Ford 150 4x4 4.6litre gets about 15.5 on my ride to work (34milesround trip) and almost 20 on dedicated highway. My wife drives a 2002 subaru outback sedan with a 3 litre and get's 24 to 25 around town and 30+ on highway. Not bad for all wheel drive and a pretty peppy car. Last week I drove the motorcycle to work all week and got 39 MPG. I get into the 40's on the highway with it. If The temp is over 40 and there not calling for rain I will be riding the motorcycle as much as possible, where last year I basically rode recreationally.

My 1989 Jeep Cherokee (inline six) gets 23mpg on the interstate and about 17 around town. My wifes Subaru gets 27-28 mpg.

I found the Aptera (www.aptera.com/) site a while back....their hybrid gas -electric commuter gets 300mpg. There might be hope yet!!

My Suzuki Jimney gives 36mpg in winter and about 40 in summer. The current Mrs Nath gets about 47mpg from her Suzuki Ignis.
I get about 55mpg from my Ducati ss750 but I don't know what my wifes Kawasaki zzr600 does as I have had to do some work on the carbs just lately. My daughters Piaggio scooter 125 gives around 80mpg.

i get 15 and 20 in my 94 ranger 4.0 4x4.i am a self employed hvac tech and do a lot of service calls i think i might get a bike with a baskett on the front to run my calls

not to mention the r22 freon is going through the roof just like the 12 did a few years back.

My personal truck a ford f-150 with a v6 5 speed gets around 18-20mpg..
my work truck a dodge ram with a v8 auto gets aroung 10-12mpg..
my wifes mini cooper with a I4 auto gets around 30-35mpg. however if you drop the top on it drops to 20-25mpg..

of course the dodge is carring a lot of weight and has a massive camper shell on it..I only drive my ford on the weekends so I can go two months on a tank of gas..

gas prices are hoovering around $3.50 a gallon here..that means about $120.00 to fill either of my trucks up...And i fill the dodge once a week

Lets see if I can remember all of them.

'07 Duramax(LMM) gets 17.1 if I don't go over 70, but about 16.2 if I do and don't have a heavy foot. Business truck Hoping for better mileage--disappointed in the poor mileage. Should have 3.73 gears instead of the 4.10 it has
04' Tundra crew cab--daily driver,about 17mpg, unless highway only, then a little over 20mpg if speeds under 70 also. Drops to about 15mpg at 75.
'05 Sienna(AWD) of the other half gets about 24 on the highway and 22 around town.
'07 RAV4 (AWD)of the daughter gets 23mpg around town and closer to 25mpg on the highway.
'95 Cummins(beater truck) does 20mpg around town and 22mpg on highway if 75mph or under. Gonna sell this one since I bought the Duramax.
Heritage Softtail gets 45-52mpg, Valkyrie gets 36-40mpg

Me - 1998 VW Jetta TDI (diesel) - 175K miles - 45MPG

Wife - 2000 Subaru Outback - 135K miles - 23MPG

My wife wants to get a MINI (approx. 35MPG) as her daily car and keep the Subaru for limited use.

I will add that I got essentially 10% better mileage when I started setting the cruise at 70 instead of 75. On my 26 mile commute I added maybe 2 minutes. That is a pretty amazing difference for a very minor change. Using cruise control helps with fuel consumption generally by evening out the acceleration and even more by allowing me to relax and not worry about how fast everyone else was going!

My extended cab Silverado 4X4 gets 16 mpg around town and 19-20 on the road. My wife's new Honda CR-V beats it by 10 mpg, easy. The truck now costs $120 to fill when empty so it doesn't get driven much. I think I've put maybe 25 miles on it in the past 3 months. I can walk to most places I need to get to these days.

Still gets about 20 MPG on a trip. 15 or 16 around town. Best vehicle I have ever owned!

2002 Ford Taurus...really unique, rare vehicle one of 'bout 50 million. Use it for work, 26,400 miles in '07, sucked up 967 gallons last year (I get reimbursed for gas + car allowance, but they take taxes out of the reimbursment so I still deduct the miles). That comes to around 27+ MPG for all conditions and types of driving. Started reducing the miles a couple of years ago, but she finally went over 200k on her last month. If I just have highway miles, she pushes 30 MPG. Course I run the air pressure in the tires at 38 PSI and that helps. Also stay away from refomulated gas as much as possible too!

1995 Ford F150 V-8, mostly highway it'll get near twenty if I keep it under 72 MPH, but if I set the cruise at 74.9 MPH it'll drop to 17-18 MPG. This one isn't broke in yet though...only 127k on the odometer.

2003 Windstar? or is it a 2004 Freestar...whatever it is my wife's vehicle. Took it on a 600 mile run this past weekend with the wife, two of my five kids, and two dogs it got 28.15 MPG and that was @ an average of over 79 MPH. Surprised the cr*p out of me.
