Now that I can see the sights on my new Uberti 1885 that I bought a couple months ago.
I put together a box of .30-40s with a 200 gr. LRNGC bullet and 18.5 grains of 5744.
I forgot my targets this morning so I printed off a couple from a site online. Didn't think about how light the were until I got out to the range. You can see the first two sighters at 50 yds just above the tang sight. I cranked it up a few turns and put two into @ 1" and then with another 1/2 turn I shot four into an 1 1/2. Main goal was to see how the rifle liked the cast bullet/ 5744 combo. It was a little rainy this morning and the paper was getting wet, couldn't make any notes.
I'm going to increase the powder charge a bit and see if I can tighten that up a little, then move back to 100 yds.
I'm really enjoying the rifle now. First time out with it wasn't the best as I was at the beginning of the onset of diabetes and couldn't see for snot. That's really evened out now and can spend some more time with this beauty. I was able to keep a couple suspended bowling pins swinging shooting it off hand at 50 yds. What a hoot!

Glamor shot.

Thanks Guys! It's definitely feeding my single shot addiction.
Pete, The targets looked like grey smudges but with the big globe front sight I was able to kind of frame it on the paper and be fairly consistent.
I just put a new pack of orange and black in my truck.

HAY where you get that campaign hat????? Is it wool felt or beaver felt or rabbit felt?
The old label says wool. I'll try to get a picture of it later today. I've had it about 20 years or so, picked it up at one show or another. I have another one without the cords. I'll have to dig that one out.
Thanks Earl!

Thank you for reply. New fur felt campaign hats are hard to fine. OBTW that fine looking rifle and great cal. I have the straight stock single trigger one in 45-70. I should work with. Seems want to shoot well.
