Africa trip underway!
6 Levergunners and one spouse are enroute to South Africa for the 2008 Safari. We have with us some 45-70's, a .308 (Sav 99), 50 AK, a 500 Linebaugh and a 30-06.
Some of the wish lists include: Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbok and Kudu. Personally, I am more interested in the 500 pound and up animals - so I will look closely at Red Hartebeast, Zebra, Nyala, Eland Waterbuck.
The flight is long and boring at best. 20 something hours total from NY. Overall, it is quite a bargain for the $1234 R/T we paid. Most of us have a total budget of around $5K, so that leaves $3266 for animals and $500 in tips and misc. With under 200 pound ungulates averaging $300 a pop, that could be a lot of animals!
The results will be reported after we return on May 11th.
I encourage everyone to jump in on next year's Leverguns Safari! A year goes by quickly and the saving and planning go until the last minute.
