I know I have asked this before...

Post by pullnshoot25 »

... but seriously, it is getting on my nerves. All I want to do is make a freaking all-weather stainless lever action rifle out of my Puma 92 .44mag and all I want is some information on converting a Win 94 stock to use on such a rifle. I have seen references made to such an activity in the past but alas, I cannot find them.

Does anyone on this board have ANY ideas on this matter?

First, you should know, gun stainless will rust. Unlike 316 marine stainless gun stainless is usually 416. It has a higher carbon content to be stronger and more machineable. It won't rust as bad as in-the-white steel but it can be buffed out, too.

You can use 94 stocks and I assume you plan to use synthetics. Ram-lines can be fitted but you will need to add some filler at the wrist where the upper tang flares around the hammer.

Yeah, I kind of figured that on the whole stainless rusting thing. My idea though is that the wood looks cool, but having at least one synthetic rifle around doesnt hurt.

I am assuming that the filler would be Bondo or something of that nature? Do you know of any pictures that shows what people have done?

I've only done one but I didn't get pics. I used accu-glass with black dye to fill.
