Thats too bad. I've seen a couple threads lately that could use his attention.
Is it a login problem? If so, he may need to allow cookies, and turn down or of his anti virus software long enough to log in. Seems I had that problem here before.

Teaal him to make sure his "Privacy" settings in Internet Explorer, are allowing cookies and session cookies. If mine are turned off, my sign in's are just loops.
Again??
He was just here a few days ago, I think.
I went to the old site last week and advised that he download a different browser - Foxfire: that may help.
It's not his security settings because he was able to access the site last week for a day or two. He is able to log on to any other site he is registered on. There has to be some internal "gremlin" messing with the proxy settings, for this site only.
Some attribute isn't quite right. The only sure fire way would be to reformat the hard drive and reload software. Flush the toilet on the gremlins. You can only spend so much time hunting them down.
There has been some general weirdness with the forum for the past couple of days.
I've been getting 404's more often than not. It's better now though.
I think there's just been some heavy traffic at a node somewhere.

I can only access the ste from work, which means I get in the office about once a month, so not often. Tried everything, but still getting the same ols "gateway timed out" message, after 5 minutes of waiting for the broser to open the site.
Loaded that Foxfire browser, but it wont work either. Seems to only be this one site.-Vall

I don't know what to tell you, Vall. Shucks, if I can access it from "some third world backwater", one would expect it to be accessible from just about ANYWHERE!
Since it's not working with Firefox OR IE, the one would suspect something to do with your ISP perhaps. If you have broadband then you might try resetting your modem. Unplug the modem and wait a couple minutes then plug it back in, wait for it to sign on and then turn your computer on. If that doesn't work... I don't know what else to try.

Last couple weeks I have for no reason recieved that same time out. If I google leverguns and come in from the home page, I get in. If I try to use the link in my favorites, it times out as stated by MM93. I have a brand new top of the line laptop and high speed service.

Exactly what is the content of your book mark? Are you linking to the "General Discussion" page or to the "Forum Index" page?
If you'd send me a copy of your link, or the URL to the page you're linking to, perhaps I could attempt to duplicate your results and maybe gain greater understanding about what's going on.

My link is directly to the GD page. It hasn't happened in over a week now. I attributed it to forum problems, seems others had the same problem at the same time also. I see in my last post I said " last couple weeks," It should have said "for a couple weeks."

Does the site name resolve in DNS? For example, assuming he's running XP, can he go into NSLOOKUP and type www.leverguncommunity.com and get a response with a valid IP address?
If the name resolves, can he just do a "tracert www.levergunscommunity.com"? That will show where he may be getting blocked on the Internet.
Of course, if it's something to do with his own machine blocking his access he'll need to adjust his privacy settings in IE or check other software he may be running but doesn't know about.

The wife had the same kind of problem with one of her sites that she goes to. She downloaded Mozilla Foxfire for the internet and stopped using internet explorer and has not had any further issues. Tell him to check it out.
About a month and a half ago we had a similar problem. We have two computer critters on a network set-up. One would work, then the other, then both, then none ... you get the picture. Not being able to log on to a couple of sites was part of it.
I went to the old forum, did a member search, found his latest entry( http://leverguns.sixgunner.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=36665 ) and then replied this: Are you using AOL? They are anti gun and may be blocking you.
Have you downloaded the Foxfire Browser yet and tried it?
