Made a couple wood scribes today, they're kinda handy.
Feel free to post pics of your wood working tools.

Ya know Pitchy I have been thing about making one of those for myself! If I find one in the antique joints they are usually beat to death and way too much money. Guess I better get some shop projects done and get on the stick!
Thanks fellars, GunnyMack, they have some on ebay pretty cheap but heck nothing like making one yourself.

Pitchy,
I had to look that up to see what a wood scribe is....and I still don't know the use of it is......yea.....been living under a rock....the Winchester and Colt rock my whole life.
I'm so used to using a pin punch and a sharpened nail I never learned the use of finer tools.
A craftsman you are........far more than any hobbyist. I learn something new everyday.----6
I have some of my grandfather's old woodworking tools. He did carpentry on the side back when he was Maine Game Warden.
On a side note, when I opened one of his homemade wooden toolboxes I found a brass, U.S. marked, 54cal. Buck and Ball mold. Pretty neat. Have no idea where he got it.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
Also known as a Marking Gauge Six. Set it for a set distance, say 1" and that scribe point will cut a line into anything you pull it across. Repeatability when making many of the same thing. Great for lay out on tenons or mortises. Have also seen some that cut a slight profile for mouldings. Some with 2 scribes.
I really gotta get Dad's Flag Memorial and his urn finished, but it's kinda hard on the emotional side!

I still use the folding rulers all the time. I use them with a little peashooter level to shoot grade when I am drilling, in order to shoot a flat finished grade.
