Schofield No.3 Second Model Uberti
My friend that owns a little hole in the wall gun shop called yesterday and asks if I want a .45 Colt Schofield. When I got there 20 minutes later he pulled this Uberti Schofield out of the safe and says take a look.
Looks like it's never been fired and not a scratch on it. Still in the box with all the paperwork and a decent looking cross draw holster and belt. All for a grand total of $559 out the door!
I was going to hit the range this morning but had some furnace repairs to make. I was able to sneak back over to my buddy's shop and borrow his AR wrench, danged if I know what happened to mine. I walk through the door and he yells from behind the mob of people in the shop today and says " I was just about to call you". He hands me a rag with a pistol in it and it's another Luger! Unfortunately ( or fortunately for my wallet) it had been rusted, polished, blued, and rusted again! I told him I'd give him $50 for the grips and the mag as that was about all that was left unmolested!
Anyway, here's my new Packin' Pistol!
Hoping to hit the range Monday!

You did right, buying that one. It's just beautiful.

Thanks Guys!
I think it found a home there!
Have to take about an inch off my middle for the belt to fit better. I put a little too much back on lately.

That's easily a $900 gun any day at any Cabela's -- nice price and pickup!Ysabel Kid wrote:+1Mossyoak1957 wrote:You stole that! What a deal!
I have a longer one, but I do like the ways those so-called "Wells Fargo" models handle.

I've always wanted a pair of those, in that barrel length. 'Course I'd want 44-40 but you need to be runnin' cause the cops ought to be after ya.

Re: Schofield No.3 Second Model Uberti
That is one pretty Schofield! I've always admired and considered buying this short barreled set up in the 45 Colt chambering. How do you guys feel the Uberti copies of the Schofield hold up as far as durability?

Re: Schofield No.3 Second Model Uberti
I'm hoping that it holds up to a good amount of use. I'm really liking the way this one fits my hand and points very naturally for me. Probably won't be able to hit the range until Wednesday. Busy couple of days.

Is that what they call the 45 short colt? That looks so right with that length barrel. What loads are you making up for it? Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: Schofield No.3 Second Model Uberti
I'm going to start with a lite load of Unique and a 255 LRN. I started to make some the other night but my Dillon 550 was acting up. Can't seem to get the primer "bar" to pick up a new primer. I have to get on the phone With their customer service to figure out what's wrong. Doesn't help that I haven't done hardly any reloading for over a year. I probably have something set up wrong but on the other hand the thing is going on 18+ years or so. Something might be wearing out. I vaguely remember it giving me an issue before I got sick last year but don't remember for sure. I have a lot of .45 Colt loaded but it's too hot for the Uberti's.

Re: Schofield No.3 Second Model Uberti
My 550 was doing something similar, but it would get the primer in the cup sideways.
The little pin that the primer bar pushes out of the way gets dry and sticky. Dillon says to use a little light grease on this part. Oil would migrate to your primers. Over time it dries out.
May be your problem?

I bet that's it!! I noticed that it wasn't coming all the way back but couldn't figure out why!
I'll give that a try this evening!

So is this what Uberti is calling this gun? The Schofield, and the No. 3 Second Model were two different guns, with different grip shapes, and extractor systems. Hard for a Schofield to also be a #3.

That's what it says on the box. If you don't like how they market stuff I suggest you send them a complaint.

Wasn't trying to upset you, just wondered. But it is typical of today's gun manufacturers to get model designations incorrect.2ndovc wrote:marlinman93 wrote:"Schofield No.3 Second Model Uberti"

That barrel length on that revolver just exudes serious business! Didn't intend for that to sound so pissy.
