I remember when my dad would go to the local boat harbor to fill up his Mercedes Benz 190D with diesel fuel for 10 cents a gallon. I remember when a burger was 10 cents too. I remember when a color TV was a BIG deal. My dad always bought B&W TVs. Not quite geezer status but I remember watching "Combat", "12 O'Clock High", "Rifle Man", "F-Troop", "Get Smart", etc. with dad in his B&W TV. I remember when most businesses were closed on Sundays, and when doctors still made house calls.

Thanks to MT tv i still watch most of those shows.

I tell my dog Maxwell man with rifle is on and he knows we are about to spend the next hour try not to fall sleeping on the couch.

I had 1 dr house call when i was a kid.
we had a tv that was on a swivel table under it so it could be turned to watch it. when the tv broke we colored on the table for years after.

And TV repairman made house calls to,along with the backery cup cake man.

those shoe xras costed cancer they came to find out later on..

I remember listening to Gun Smoke, Paladin, The Lone Ranger, Wild Bill Hickok, Fibber McGee and Molly, and Gang Busters on the radio.
I remember when the "Manor" man stopped every week with his baked goods. I remember "brown and serve" rolls were a new thing and they really tasted good.
The ice and coal company still delivered ice to the many houses in town that did not have refrigerators.
Stoking the coal furnace in the basement and carrying out the ashes and dumping them in the ally.
The first modern deer season and the first turkey season ever.
I could not imagine a town that did not have a carnival, a parade, music shows, and fire works on the Fourth of July.
The power plant blew a siren at 6 am, 12 noon, 6 pm, and 10 pm so you knew when to come home if you were out playing.
On the first day of Christmas vacation, the free movie at the theater and Santa arrived on the fire truck.

I wrung my hand and forearm through a wringer, swinging the wringer around and slightly engaging so it would chatter shooting krauts. Folks couldn't afford a doctor or X ray so took me to a shoe store and had me put my arm in one of those X ray machines mentioned. Now it glows in the dark!
Someone mentioned Broderick Crawford. I met him at Universal Movie studios when I was a guard in 1964. I was a fire fighter in the NPS before that. The pilot that gave me my first Helicopter ride I recognized as the same pilot Crawford occasionally used on Highway Patrol. I asked Crawford about him and he said he had got killed crashing in a fire!

I remember.... cranking the handle on the cream seperator for my grandpa Jess. He milked about ten cows by hand and seperated the cream that was sent to the creamery. All the rest went to the hogs.
There was a water tank and windmill by the house where five gallon cream cans awaited the creamery truck. We drank whole milk in the house.

we had only 1 milk cow but remember the cream coming to the top and having a cream cup thing in the fridge for coffee. and a cheese cloth to separate it from the milk.
