Hand forged chopper
Hey all. I've been working on a project all summer and it's nearing the end. It's a chopper build with hammer and tongs, you know, blacksmith style. I had it entered in a blacksmith art show a week ago but won nothing. I'm planning on entering the Easy Rider show in January when done. I thought you would enjoy it.

Way cool! Triumph? Inquiring minds want to know. Anyway, I'd take a spin on it.

Your chopper DID win. The judges were most likely artist elitists and the only beauty they can see is some abstract BS or a hundred guns all welded together. I got the coolest fish hook in the country thanks to your outstanding workmanship.------6

Outstanding... I love it.
Is that the fish hook that's up with the original Colt 1862 Police cap and ball I'm guessing?
Great work man!

Cool project!

It is a 1958 Indian motor that was built by Royal Enfield. I have not started the motor yet since I got it. I'm close but not quite ready.

is it a reasonable guess that there is something like a spring temper in the forks?

Re: Hand forged chopper
The motor came out of a basement here in Ohio. I had known about it since 1012 and finally got it in a deal. The gas tank is an old sportster tank that had the shape I liked. The seat is new but built for a harley. I was looking for a saddle looking seat. I wanted tall thin tires for the look I wanted and got two 21" harley rims from early 2000s. The rest is all me. The forks are normal steel and plenty strong enough for the job and the springs are springer replacements. I now have a fuel petcock installed and a battery box built and intalled. Next is brakes and the try to start it and see if Twisted Horse will run.Camel73 wrote:How did you source your parts?

Re: Hand forged chopper
I had a Royal enfield many moons ago, it was given to me as junk, one of the antique bike guy's traded me a gun I wanted for it. I had almost the matching tank on my old 41 Indian 30-50 chopper. You have very good taste in bikes.
Re: Hand forged chopper
Back in 1976, I owned a rigid frame custom chopper with Kawasaki Z1-900 engine. It was fast and fun for straight line riding but a real bear for twisty roads due to the front end rake and long springer front end. The gas tank was raked same as yours and I had to fill up every 75 miles or so. Eventually, I sold it and bought a Kawasaki 1000 LTD and welded on a Harley goose neck so I could bolt on a twisted girder long front end. It was also quite fast and very reliable. I installed drag bars with 7 inch risers.
I like your custom Triumph. Good job! Thanks for sharing.
