Gunny: How Goes the Move?

Post by Old No7 »

Wondering how JReed and his wonderful family are making out with the move West (but thankfully, not all the way west to CA...).

Let us know how you're doing Gunny -- no rush.

Gunny was talking about moving to AZ. Given the recent temp's in the state, waiting until fall would probably be a good idea!

Ok have a minute to sit down now.

As I said we are now in CA with family. Currently we are house hunting and job hunting for our finnal destination in AZ. All things considered things are well and we are enjoying the break. Nice thing is this is a Gov funded move so all of our house hold goods are in storage waiting for us to call with an address to send it all to the down side is we have been living out of suitcases since June 13th lol.

Gunny, I'd think you'd be used to living from suitcases while waiting for household goods. Seems it took months for them to catch up with us. Of course we move every couple of years back then. I think it's less frequent these days.

We have averaged a move every 2.5 years for the past 20 so yeah we ave it down to an art  . Ussualy they get us our stuff pretty quick once we have an address to send it to. This one will take a little longer as we aren't moving right in to base housing. May have to get an appartment while we job and house hunt so the boys can start school out there this fall. All managable things just the normal hassles of moving.

Any bases near your new home? I think the commissary and such are probably still a pretty good deal. Don't you get Tricare for life? VA hospitals and such if needed?

2 bases there. MCAS Yuma and Yuma Proving Grounds. Big factors when we were deciding where to go.Yes we get Tricare for life and my VA dissability claim is in the works.

Gunny, I may be doing some work at MCA Yuma. I currently take care of the hospital at Pendleton and the fellows there remotely control some of the systems in Yuma.
