.
For the DA guys, it fits right in the lineup with their .22 Single-10
Several years ago, I had a 6-shot SP-101, with the "lighter" half-shroud - But it was still one of the heaviest .22 handguns I've ever had the dis-pleasure of owning (Yes, it soon went down the road).

GP100 10 shot double action revolver.
This would make a nice revolver. My uncle has the S&W 10 shot revolver but that thing cost him over 800.00.
I just called a gun shop that I use and they said this one will be about 700 with tax and all.

Re: New from Ruger
Ruger dropped the hint on this one almost a year ago. I have been waiting for it's release ever since I will grab one as soon as I find a distributor who has one. If anyone knows where they have them in stock, please post it.

Hold yer breath............
It won't be the first time, if Ruger runs true to form by "introducing" a new whatever without making more than a few to prove out their tooling - waiting to see if the interest in whatever, draws enough orders for Ruger to actually runs a production line for the new whatever.
For instance, back when Ruger announced their new SxS shotgun, The Gold Label, I trotted down to my local (Ruger) stocking dealer to order one.
I made a $1500 deposit, at the time I ordered one.
After 18mos, and no Gold Label forthcoming from Ruger, the dealer refunded my deposit (w/o paying me any interest, of course).
About 3 years later, my dealer told me that he had finally gotten one in, and would I like to see it - I passed.

Re: New from Ruger
It is up on the Ruger web Site as a standard item, not a distributor exclusive.
Ruger sent me a news letter e-mail today featuring this gun. It is real, not just a ploy to fool folks.
Davidsons has them listed but out of stock. They are accepting requests for stock notice when they come in.
When the RedHawk 4" .45Colt/ACP was released,Davidsons sold some 200 in the first 8 hours. Mine was one of the second batch they got in.

1894cfan ,Not exactly the same thing. I have a couple of the .22/45's. Great little shooters they are.
I have a red dot on one and it shoots like a rifle.

I've had the Bull Barrel Gov't Target MKII for about 30 years. If I made a bet to hit a tin can at 100 yards with a handgun/iron sights this is the one I'd use. And yes, I can do it.1894cfan wrote:I've already got a 10 shot .22lr ruger.....it's a MKII!!!!!!

Have you hugged your rifle today?
Re: New from Ruger
I started socking it away about 10 years ago as a hedge against inflation when retired. Believe it or not, I actually was able to buy 4 boxes of Federal 40gr BlueBox at WallyWorld the other day.....claybob86 wrote:If you can get ammo.BlaineG wrote:I've had the Bull Barrel Gov't Target MKII for about 30 years. Re: New from Ruger
I have a old model colt trooper 4" in .22 lr. Even that feels too heavy. I seldom shoot it. It seems to weigh close to double what my idea of a 22 revolver should. That ruger looks a lot bigger.

Re: New from Ruger
Ruger has brought out another beautiful and useful handgun.
How about this model with a 9 or 10 shot .22 WMR Ruger double-action offering and a 6 or 6.5 inch barrel?
I like the larger, heavier .22 versus a downsized handgun. A six inch barrel takes advantage of the magnum loading and full size sixguns fill my hand and offer good stability. Double action functionality adds its utility as a trail gun.
Taurus has created their Model 992 Tracker 6 1/2 inch 9 shot 22 Magnum DA revolver. Given its price point, and assuming that Taurus quality is again up to par, this seems to be a tempting alternative.

Re: New from Ruger
I love rimfire revolvers. My faves include an old pre-war S&W pre-war Outdoorsman, a S&W pre-lock steel cylinder 617-4 (10 shot) and several H&R 9-shot break-open revolvers...the single action 199's and 777 are more fun to shoot than the 999 double action due to the better triggers.
I'm going to take a look at this new Ruger. If the trigger is good, I may have to buy one!

A .22LR on a GP-100 frame?
Too heavy, IMO.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Re: New from Ruger
I agree. They'll sell a ton of them, but it doesn't really interest me. It won't shoot well enough to be a true target gun, and it's heavy for a 22LR for general use.FWiedner wrote:A .22LR on a GP-100 frame?
