Not sure about hogs, but I can't imagine anything more satisfying than elk with a handgun. I took my first one with a .44 S&W at 90 yards some 30 years ago!
Nice shootin', Jim.
"Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it? Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the path of destruction." - Thomas Jefferson
First shot I hit the elk in the left shoulder and shattered the shoulder. Not sure how far into the chest the bullet went. The elk dropped it's head and then took a couple steps to the right. I put the next one behind the left shoulder, angling forward toward the right shoulder. The elk turned to its right as if it were going to head for the trees where there is a really deep ravine. I put the next one through its neck and dropped it. When I looked at the elk up close there was a bulge in the hide on the right side. I slit it open and popped the bullet from the 2nd shot out. The guide said the elk was dying from one or both of the first shots and that it was getting ready to lay down. I just wanted to end it quickly.
Praise the Lord Jim, sure glad you had a good hunt. Reckon that just being there was good but that much meat to take back to Texas will sure be nice too.
