This woman's hunting photo....
....is lacking some major blaze-orange in my opinion....
http://clashdaily.com/2015/06/this-chic ... her-back/#
I know her fellow hunters are supposed to be very careful, but with rain and mist and fog and tired eyes, it's easy to "see" things differently than they really are; she could get shot.

Strikes Me funny Doc, I don't know any hunters who would drink from a creek, with bloody hands, stick the butt of a rifle in the water or walk around with a moose rack like that. even in Alaska I would wonder what just crossed the creek around the corner. Great pic though. Thanks.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
I doubt that she walked very far with that load. Having hauled a few elk heads with cape, skull, and horns on I'd say you're looking at 150 up to near 200# depending how well the neck meat was cleaned off.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
Carrying a Moose head like that is kinda like wearing a fur coat in Big Foot country (like Harry in 3rd rock from the sun) but I suppose that photo was posed for some commercial reason.
Still, it's always nice to see a female hunter though...

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
The image looks 'shopped... (there seems to be pixel-edge artifacts) But it's fun nonetheless.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
I goggled her, there is a lot of comments on her and she seems well known with bow hunters etc. At first on seeing the picture I thought it in the class and company of naked chicks shooting machine guns etc but on reading about her I think she is the real deal, a dedicated bow hunter and artist on painting trophy skulls etc.

I'm not contesting that.

If the image is not photoshopped and ignoring the safety issues, then she is a keeper.

I have personally spoke to Jana on more than one occasion, and I can attest that she is the real deal. And I don't doubt for a second that she could haul that pack up the side of a mountain. I seriously doubt that the pic was photoshopped, but it was likely taken for commercial purposes.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
Again, I don't doubt her veracity, competence or the hunt.
But the Image just doesn't seem right around the edges.
There are a LOT of hunt photos that are that way, either by 'shop or "creative" camera placement. Theis doesn't denigrate the hunt but the pic just doesn't feel right.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
That was my feeling - from what I had heard she was 'real', but obviously most of us don't have cameramen following us around looking to take awesome pictures of ourselves when hunting, so when that happens, it always tends to look a big 'staged'.TedH wrote:I have personally spoke to Jana on more than one occasion, and I can attest that she is the real deal. Makes a good point that women are definitely not genetically excluded from being tough and being hunters.
I doubt she'd be carrying it like that were it not for the commercial/photo potential, or at least if she were carrying it like that in wilderness without some cameramen tromping along with her and making noise, she'd probably have orange-taped it or something. I would have, anyhow (...of course odds of me ever going out and getting a trophy like that are slim to none anyway... ).

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
Reality shows ain't Real , they are carefully scripted, the actors and actresses are rehearsed and advised by directors just like "real tv" shows. Not a knock on the huntress or on her abilities or lack of them. She makes it a reason to watch, but ,I'll admit, I never saw the SHOW

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
Perhaps she is not drinking from the stream. May be she is just washing her face because she forgot her knife and had to chew the head off that moose.
Cool photo. Dunno why that would get anyone's shorts in a bunch. Ground up meat on styrofoam from the grocery store is way groadier that that. Maybe people are offended that she is carrying a tacticool sniper rifle instead of an old open-sighted lever gun.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
The fact that she's a redhead puts her at the head of the class for me! A synthetic stock "shouldn't" be affected if it gets wet... and as a balance point with a pack like that, it makes sense... and yes, rinsing off the face or drinking from a steam doesn't seem overly stupid... in wild country, running water, it might have a high content of roe... a good source of protein.

God bless Her if She drink's from a river, and has no ill effects. I have read of several Hunters who were Elk hunting and got deathly sick from drinking water that was "Rocky Mountain clean". .

Where are the pixel-edge artifacts? I did not find them immediately apparent in this stunning and savagely lovely photograph.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
I hate to destroy anyone's fantasies but the above photo was completely staged for maximum effect and the fact that we're talking about it and that it is plastered all over the internet shows that it worked. Even the "antis" and the haters are abuzz about it. Nothing is left to chance in "reality" television, too much money is riding on it, too many careers at stake. She's is an attractive woman who apparently hunts, so enjoy, but keep in mind Santa Claus isn't real either.

Hey Casastahle, that's what you call an impressive woman. A rifle over one shoulder and a deer over the other, and all without looking like a cross between a Russian wrestler and a grizzly bear.

I drink unfiltered water all the time seems those little bugs cant handle the snus I use. there are as many hunting accidents in ID as MT and MT has a orange mandate which I dont follow and it boils down to not IDing your target first plus now with a brow tine rule people have to look close. As most of the keystone lite boys dont carry binocs they look at you thru a scope it a eerie feeling riding down a ridge with a drunk pointing a rifle at you. Was in the Bob marshall 20 years ago with my BIL and a good friend who was riding a horse with orange ribbon tied on the headstall, saddle and tail and his vest in the snow fog a guy shot his horse in the ham from behind, as the first week was any elk rule. danny

First, I would rather look at her than Jim Shockey!
If blaze orange is not mandatory, I don't wear it either. I would put some on a head or meat I was taking out though.

Re: This woman's hunting photo....
Totally staged, are you kidding? I just figured she was out for a walk with her pet moose head, and just happened to stop for a drink across the stream from a photographer.
As far as photoshoped, what isn't? I'm thoroughly unimpressed with any photos I see these days, digital photography took what was once art and science, either in camera or in the darkroom and turned it into the push of a button. I'm so sick of all the over processed super saturated photos online.
