Leveritis...Never Sleeps..........
Yesterday after Church, Momma wanted to go shoppin. I said O.K. as there is a Tractor Supply on one side of Her Clothing store and a newer sporting goods on the other.
The sporting Goods is always well stocked but they don't give anything away, usually MSRP. I walk along the gun counter and on the wall I see some used rifles. I see a Marlin Bulls eye poking out from behind a sling. Prolly a .22 I think. I ask the clerk about it He says it's a .218 Bee. . He gets it down, it's missing the plug screws from a mounted scope, lite fine rust here and there and the stock is bone dry like an old, old, gun.
I look at the tag on it, $349.00 W/ammo.... any reason I had was out the window. 70 pieces of brass and 20 loaded rounds. It came home. an hour of rubbing the metal down with a cloth and some rem-oil and the stock with Momma's furniture oil and a 70% gun improved dramatically. I took it out back and fired five rounds shoots fine. now for dies more brass and bullets. .

Re: Leveritis...Never Sleeps..........
Lots of folks would pass that one by, figuring it is chambered in "some old weird cartridge", and "besides, I thought all leverguns were 30-30's".
That is a GOOD thing, 'cuz it makes those of us who appreciate such things occasionally get lucky...

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

I agree Guys about the pictures. I don't have a cell phone, my camera is junk and the last time I tried the photo bucket thing it wouldn't work no matter what I did. I was just a little upset. I'll have to get My Son over Here to do it for Me.

Re: Leveritis...Never Sleeps..........
If a guy spends enough time haunting the gunshops and has the knowledge on these nice old guns,
the old saying of "being in the right place at the right time" happens a whole lot more often to him than the guy who eats cheese doodles in front of a football game tv screen.
I affectionately call this my "cat rifle" , but in reality it has taken its share of mangy foxes out back.----6. A dose of 4227 and a Hornady "bee" bullet always does the job.
