dingdingding !!! we have a winner. this one is in 30/30. i believe they were made in the 1970s only.

they were also made in 35 remington, though i have looked for one and not found one yet.

kind of interesting rifle. well balanced, a little heavy,points well. easy to mount scope.

the other one i have is i believe western field or western auto. will have to check itl

If it's Western Field it was sold by Montgomery Wards. I had a Shotgun marked Western Field 550 when I was a kid. My dad bought it for me for Christmas in 1967. It was a Mossberg 500.

For what it's worth, there's one of the Westernfield-marked ones in the Rogers, MN Cabela's. Or at least it was still there early this morning, just as it's been for probably close to a couple of months now. Soon as I saw the sidelever safety in the photo, knew what it was from having looked at this one enough times.

Even knowing they're kind of uncommon, it's priced more than I'm willing to go on it, but for all I know it's a fair price for what it is (tag reads close to $450).

i got each of mine for under 350$ by watching auctions. i think they generally go higher in stores. well, when you think about it , what lever gun in good condition brings much less than 450$ these days ??

I bought one of these at a gun show for $35 and sold it for $85 a few weeks later. I thought it was kind of interesting and wondered why there weren't more around. I never intended to keep it and didn't shoot it so I really don't know much about the quality or anything else. I did like the idea of trigger moving with the lever.
