Hardside Camping... in an empty house

Post by Old Ironsights »

So, I'm insanely busy with this move, but needed to cook something in this "bachelor pad" ... so:

2 C rice, cooked (in Dutch oven... all I have with me is camping cast iron. Copper hasn't been moved...)
1 can Hash
1 can No Bean chili
1 can El Pato (yellow or green)
1 can Diced Tomatoes w/green chilies
1 can Mixed Vegetables, drained

Mix in Dutch Oven over low heat until warm

Slather onto tortillas. Eat for 4 days (16ea 10" tortilla burritos...).

It's all good. Right now I only get nagged between 1800 & 1900 instead of whenever I am home... ;)

Sometimes the lack of nagging can be worth quite a bit. :D

On another note, I'm sitting in Obamaville for work training. Got most of the day off tomorrow, so I'm going to run down to your old stomping ground and wander around the Hammond Cabela's and see how much trouble I can get in. Then I might wander north around the east side of the big pond.

I lived for a summer on #72 Mac&Cheese dinners, rolled oats, powdered milk, bread, peanut butter, and jelly (but I bought the Kroger brand since Kraft is anti-gun  ). Saved enough money just eating that, to go out every two weeks for a steak dinner, though.

3 or 4 pork chops
1 large can of Cambells chicken and rice soup
1 cup of minute rice
mix mustard powder and black pepper in flour in a bag
dredge chops through a beaten egg and throw it in the flour, coat
brown both sides in hot oil
throw it all in a crock pot cook on low 8 hours
comes out real hardy and makes a lot.

1 pound dry small red beans, or small black beans, rinsed. Place in large pan or dutch oven, bring to boil, reduce to simmer, add tomatoes, jalapenos to taste, chili powder to taste, sausage such as chorizo or smoked sausage if desired, cook all day at a simmer. 30 minutes before eating, bring back to a boil, add 1 cup of rice and cook until the rice is tender. It makes a bunch of bowls of beans and rice and is very filling. For those who have fired L.A.W.S. rockets, keep your backblast area clear.

That sounds good. I always forget to put fixings on tortillas tho. My favorite cheap long lasting meal is:

2 cups rice
12oz or so can of chicken
Can of corn
and lots of butter pepper with a little less salt.
