B-92 357mag worth?
LGS has one for sale. Wood is OK, but finish coming off in places. Blue is good and seems to be in good shape otherwise. Just wondering what the thing is worth nowadays.

I guess it depends on if you want a shooter or a collector's piece. Figure the price of a new Rossi up, depending on how bad the finish is. If the blues solid the wood is easily refinished. Best '92 ever made. I'd pay $600 for one that just needs the wood refinished in a heartbeat.

.
B92's in .357 are a lot more rarer & ergo valuable (like +50%) than a B92 in .44 Mag, in equal condition.
I would expect a .44 in that condition to change hands in the $500-$575 range.
I can't comment on a .357, since I've never personally seen one for sale, much less change hands (preferably into mine).
IMHO, when a .357 B92 magically appears somewhere, it's probably a good idea to jump on it, for general principles if nothing else.

A clean B-92 .357 mag. will sell for $1200 plus on the auction sites.
I agree with Pete's assessment regarding the .357 chambered B-92. 1886.

You fellows are making me regret my primo one years ago.
Re: B-92 357mag worth?
if it's cheap it's worth more and if it's dear it's worth it.
it is several orders of magnitude better quality than anything being made today, near as I can tell.

I would say that it is probably worth owning.
And it is also worth shooting.
And it is worth buying if the price is right. Really, as long as it is in good shape, you could hardly go wrong if you spent anywhere within the price range of currently-produced '92 clones, since there is nothing now built quite like it, but you should be able to get it for less than the new Winchesters, I would think. Just refinish the wood, it will look better anyway.
I have never seen one for sale, personally, and didn't see any in a quick internet search last night. I have seen the other calibers.

I agree, $1200 for a 95% or better is not unusual. Sounds like the one you are looking at is maybe 80%? That's still an $700 to $800 gun.

Yeah, from the lever forward, its probably 98%, and the lever back, then 80%. Overall, not too bad.

Yeppers.
Few pics. Spot of rust on top tang. Buttplate is pitted and not much finish. Almost like this was in a scabbard with the back end exposed to some elememts, and the front part protected.

Perfect condition! Just how I like them. Enough blemishes you can feel comfortable shooting the heck out of them, throwing them in a soft case in the truck or strapped to the quad. Perfect rifles end up in the safe, protected from the world and saved for...... the next guy I guess.
Enjoy! wish I could find one like it to go with my 44mag Browning.

A good 92 in 357 is a favorite Lever in our home and our only real question is do we have the money. New ones cost noticably more than they did, and the prices aren't going down. Those pics show character.

That one is in nice shape. That stock can be refinished to look like new and a little steel wool and oil will take the brown off of the tang.
I refinished a BLR stock a couple months ago. It looked great afterword and the customer was just tickled.

Yes Dear hearts, but be sure the steel wool is #0000, I use Ballistol with it, but most good gun oils will do. Know when to keep rubbing, and know when to stop.

Man, that is a nice shooter! I love mine and won't part with it unless I get real hungry.
Enjoy your new rifle.
