Been after one for years! Can you guess what it is?
Shot one at 30yds just missed the target, adjusted the sight and shot two was on!
Shot three got a 45yd rabbit, shot four missed a ten yard rabbits head and five got another at 12yds.
All within 24 hours ownership!
All I did to the gun was lift the barrel off the lock!
Nice gun , I m thinking on getting a second Parker Hale musketoon and turn it into a carbine. I d have the barrel teamed smooth and bobbed back to 20 inches and fit it with a swivel ramrod. Would make a nest bunny gun
Well I guess I should have read further down.. But a caliber .58 is just as good.

I wish my fat little cow dogs were as cool as Tia, NAth Good looking boomstick too ! Are the smoothbores and other muzzleloaders regulated as tightly for you as the centerfires, regarding how many you can own and all that?

75grn 3f, three leather wads soaked in olive oil, patch and .562".
A .58 smooth bore Buffalo Hunter was my first muzzle loader, I swapped a 20 gauge O/U for it.The seller nearly snatched my arm off but I really wanted that front loader...
If I was too generous with the powder and shot the hammer would go back to half cock when fired . .
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
Excess pressure sometimes will blow back through the nipple (before the projectile exits the bbl, forcing the hammer back to either half or full cock, depending.
A weak hammer spring will let that happen too...
I like the gun... Navy Armsused to produce one like yours that I lusted over when they were available.. Got a smooth bore flinter I need to get out and make smoke with one of these days...

To be honest...there is a bit of camera trickery going on there! The rabbit is closer to the camera than me!

Ok, in 5 sentences or less ( ) what does this mean?
5 sentences hmmm will try!
To stop hot gasses getting past and through the patch fibres and upsetting the ball at the muzzle I put three leather wads cut from welders gloves with a punch I made.
These are then soaked in olive oil, on firing the huge compression forces the oil on the bore of which keeps the BP fouling soft for following loadings.

That's a pretty clean Buffalo Hunter, Nath !
.
Correct! The first time I took it out for an evening flight of duck I was amazed, as was my brother in law, at the flame from the nipple....
