A very kewl 336 modified. The swine slayer

I like it a lot! I like the green and matt, with sitebrake, single point sling mount, and scope mount in 35 Rem. Add a medium large loop lever and this thing would pretty awesome. Weighs about a pound less than a factory 336.

Those rounds do look like they could be very easily damaged or lost.
I wander just how much weight is saved by skeletonizing (sp?) the lever that way.

Says I #. I'm wondering about the bullet storage also. Don't know how they are retained.

I hear you griff, get that one and send it to WWG for their takedown conversion and I would be forced to get a suppressor for it too. This is a sickness

Not quite as abominable as Mossberg's "tactical" offering, but still an aberration to a traditionalist's point of view..

Wonder if their copy-writer used to work for HRA...?

I'd rather go with the springloaded cover built into the stock holding six rounds in line, that ammo carrier could lose rounds or trap brush, etc very easily.

And I'd go with a XS sights rear.

It ain't horrible, it's actually kinda awesome, but that cartridge carrier looks like a darned convenient way to lose ammo.

:)

I like the little light-rail on the forend.

I wonder if one could do the same style cartridge storing as the Mossberg 500 shotgun's "Speed-Feed" stocks use...?

DRC custom and a few others do the springloaded cover I referred to. I know Jeff Cooper had it done on a couple of his early Scout rifles.

Is Dave and DRC still in business? The old web links don't work.

As far as I know he is, though there was some trouble a year or two back, thus the broken weblinks.

Oh hell, I like it a lot. And a lot more practical than Mossberg's SPX version. That said, the Swine Slayer would have to come in 45-70 flavor for me to truly lust after it.
My 464 build comes pretty darn close sans muzzle brake, and at a third of the price.

Frankly I'm good with 5+1+9 and I can drill the flashlight mount if I really wanted to.
Oh, and my ammo will stay in place ;)

I kinda like it but I surely wouldn't risk a JM gun on it!
