1911s you will never own.
...Or at least I'll never own.
Seen at SHOT via The Firearm Blog. That's not the only one. There's somebody out there with a few 1911s and way too much time on their hands

I believe it's an X5 (a big fancy P226) and not a 220 either.

Oh, Joe.
Of course it is...

As a personal defence weapon it's going make people laugh themselves to death.
I love the little seal tail as a back sight. But the bear looks like the cat has just taken a dump on your pistol.
Here is cheaper example of pimping my 1911

Art Guns are like Art Knives... demonstrations of an artisan's artistic skill, not things to actually be used.

Pete, that's a nice gun. Lots of opinions of engraving on guns. I like the idea of blued steel being the canvas for a tasteful piece of art. I also like the smell of Bullseye in the morning. Keep those pics coming. Sig makes a great gun, but my heart is with the 1911.
Re: 1911s you will never own.
I'm sorry, that Sig is just stupid.
I have the hardest time seeing the 1911 as a collectible. I guess in my own twisted way this is a compliment because from the first one to the last it is one of the most practical handguns ever made. An early one is just as relevant a defensive tool today as it was a hundred years ago.
Not that I'd EDC an early Colt commercial or a mint WW1 1911.

Re: 1911s you will never own.
There's a certain point when an object looses it's intended purpose and becomes a piece of art. The first piece picturered is an artful expression intended to be viewed as "art", and not a firearm. Some folks don't look beyond the original life/purpose of an object (like looking at a nice shiny cast bullet and complaining that it's no longer a wheel weight)...

Some crafts-folk should get no closer to a gun than one of the low end models that splooge out hot-melt glue.
