You must be from up in Auckland... I seem to recall some really frigid winters down south!

Still cold tho'... some relief is in the latest forecasts.

I am just north of Wellington. We had snow in the winter of 2011. That shut things down. But nothing like folk are experiencing in the US and Canada at the moment. I had experienced some big freezes in the south of England in 2009. Here it got down to -7 C or 19.5 F. That was cold. Luckily the year before I got up into the roof space and insulated the water pipes. I house we rented burst its pipes the year before.

A couple of uncles and several cousins are from Upper Hutt. But, I don't hear from those cousins. Another lives in Martinborough and commutes to Wellington. But, luckily, she can also telecommute on occasion.

I'm in the north woods of Wisconsin. 26 below last night (4th night in a row of 20+ below) but we have a heat wave coming. Could be in the 20s in a day to so.

.....There is no snow here! A few pictures from the last couple days of gorgeous weather. Some of the places that I used to frequent. Still have friends there. Mostly all from the snow belt area south of Owen Sound. This is just a dusting compared to other years. Down in my area we had only 6" of powder that was dumped on Tuesday morning, prior to that we had for 3 days, continuous 35 mph winds with higher gusts topping around 60 this produced lots of whiteouts and drifts of snow. White outs equal lots of accidents between vehicles due to poor vis or bad drivers.
.....The 3 pictures called Saugeen Shores are of my buddy's driveway on his return from Atlanta today. When he left there was only a dusting of snow. He lives just 3 houses up from Lake Huron. There are areas in the west that got hit a lot harder then we did.
.....Tomorrow the rains start! Bye Bye snow!

We hit lows in single digits (positive) here which is VERY unusual. But today was near 50 degrees and Saturday will be in the mid-60's!

Lake Michigan kept it relatively warm here as I'm only 10 miles from there. The coldest it got where I'm at is about -5,
inland is a different story. The big lake does the same in summer, keeps it cool.
