Thanks to the electric linemen, engineers and many others...

...who engineered and maintained the lines and grid and with a bit of luck and God's grace, helped keep our power on all week during this blizzard and cold snap.

We were in the midst of my business-move, had a couple ill family members, some trees down, pumphouse heat failed, and so on, so much so that even a few 'off-the-grid' days would have really messed things up.

Prayers up for those who weren't so lucky.

My toughest choice after doing all the repairs,



and spending several hours moving snow,



then seeing the day was nearing its end,



was which one of these to take for my evening walkabout...



I wound up with the 45, cuz it gave me an excuse to maybe shoot a few odd-n-end 45 ACP rounds I have sitting about.

You are very correct to recognize the lineman. That was my dad for 42 years in northern Iowa. I remember hundreds of storms, both thunderstorms and winter storms where my dad was walking out the door to climb utility poles when the rest of the world was hunkering down under cover. They are and he was "one tough hombre."

Like to see that tractor out there earning its keep -- mine is in the garage right now with the box blade attached (I don't have a loader ) -- if I get snowed in , its rready to spring into action ---- one winter I left it outside with a belly mower attached -- I wont make that mistake again

Is'nt it funny how -20 and 2 feet of snow can teach you life lessons...... NOW my tractor is ready for snow in late September

The linemen and others who keep the electricity connected certainly do deserve a big thanks. That last big ice storm knocked a lot of power lines down and created a lot of problems. That is a tough and sometimes dangerous job. Thanks to all the people who keep the lights on for us.
