Pics From Pa. Regional Levergun Silhouette Championship
Howdy Guys,
Just got back Sunday night after 4 days of slamming lead down the barrels of a mess of guns at the McKean Rifle Club where the Regional Levergun Silhouette Champs are held near Bradford, Pa. Nasty 5+ hour drive that really sucks.
We played all day on the 4th just shooting what we wanted to shoot. I was even knocking down the animals with a S.A.A. Colt in 38-40. Had some fun with the 2" S.A.A. Colt in 45 L.C. on the 200 meter rams. Yea, if you hold the gun right, the ram falls over.
All three matches were 80 shots. We shot 40 in the morning and 40 after lunch. So after 3 days and shooting 240 rds with intense concentration takes a toll on your mind. I'm still recuperating, but that's me. It don't bother some people.
On Friday, the 5th, we shot the Big Bore match. I only got a 52 X 80 with the .348. Did not win anything but had fun, which, by the way, is the thing to do.
Sat., the 6th, we shot pistol caliber. I got a 64 X 80 with the Model 53 Winchester in 25-20 to take 1st place in my class (AAA)
On Sunday, we shot smallbore .22. I shot a 56 X 80 with a 1947 produced Model 39 Marlin with a Marbles Special Base sight to take 1st place in my class (AA) These were the first time I ever won anything at a big event. As the planets were all in a line, I guess I got lucky or maybe it was the good work done by my spotter, "The Gunny".
There was some very impressive shooting from the Master Class. Al Bean only missed 24 targets for all three matches! The Master Class shooters can hold a rifle like it was on a sandbag. We had people from Pa. , Md., Va., N.Y., Ohio, and other places I don't recall.
Anyway, Along with our monthly club shoots at Atglen, we are looking forward to the Gary Doer Memorial shoot at Ridgway in August and the Pa. State Champs in Sept.-----------------------------------Sixgun

Here's a relay in action. The shooting line is very long. Be careful of that girl at the end of the video, Vicki outshoots 99% of the men. She and her hubby, Mark, also a top notch shooter, are relaxing between relays.

Camera on zoom. Target setters at the 200 meter line.
Here's this big tough Marine D.I., "The Gunny" reading something off of his stupid internet tablet as we were getting ready to sleep. (THIS is really gonna p*s* him off)
The model 53 Winchester in 25-20 that did me good.
My Marlin that also was good to me. (Don't have a pic of the Model 71, that rifle was bad, so I'm punishing it.)
Yea, everyone else was shooting bad for me to win these.

Congrats on the wins, well done.
I often wonder who has more fun at those long weekend shoots, the guys slumming it in tent city, or the upper classes shut up in their fancy caravans and hotel rooms.
Here's a pic of my camp for the Australian 2013 CLAS Nats

Great shooting Sixgun!
I very much enjoyed your report and pictures. Levergun silhouette shooting is one of those things that looks so easy, right up until the time you try it! Suddenly those targets shrink, and I swear I have seen Turkeys duck down to avoid being hit!

Thanks guys. It seems like we exist for 12 months in order to enjoy 1 or maybe 2 exciting happenings.

Two first place plaques at a regional shoot. Not too shabby Jack.
What happened to the huge circus tent you two had? Destroyed from within?
I'm thinking that you need to get rid of that 348 and what do you know, I've been looking for one.
My congratulations to you on some fine shooting.

Yo Reds, Sure would have been more fun if you were there............but then again, you would beat me but that would be fine with me as we ain't shootin' for Cadillacs. Like you said in the e-mail, possibly the State Champs in Sept. Got a bunk for 'ya!--Cimarron Red wrote:Great shooting, Jack! Lovely little 53, too. Yep, there's a lot of air around those targets!

Re: Pics From Pa. Regional Levergun Silhouette Championship
Sixgun,
You da man! Congratulations! Nice shooting and you did it with cast bullets too! Now that's talent!
Thank you for the pics.
Sorry I couldn't be there to join in on the fun but that is the time of the year that family members get together.
Hope to see you guys at the States.
