Rechambering 35 rem marlin 336 to 358 win

Post by elroy63 »

A local gunsmith claims to have very good luck rechambering marlins to 358 winchester. All he does is cut the chamber . Has anyone heard of this being done? any feeding or safety issues?

I have one like that.....Frankly, if I were to start shooting it, I'd load it down to .35 Remington +P.....The person I got it off of says it's been shot many times..... :? I sort of wish I didn't have it, but, it was cheap and seemed like a good idea at the time  (This is not a professional, or, even astute opinion....just a personal one)

Have you shot it at all? I was curious about whether they feed reliably, accuracy etc.. I find the idea really interesting, although I have to admit it works pretty good as a 35 rem.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Can't see any reason to re-chamber from a .35Rem.

The.35R is one of the most accurate and hard hitting rifles I've ever owned.

Me, either (other than the 'because I can' factor). 35 Rem is a 'classic' that still fills the effective but non-magnum niche.

Not a 35 but a wildcatted version of a Marlin. I personally saw this one and talked to the shooter.

Notice how the Marlin action fails? Looks the same in every photo I've seen. I've HEARD of the locking surfaces peening to the point of failure but never seen a photo and I've looked and asked, even begged for one. This is a very interesting subject that seems to come up about every 8 months or so.

Here is another picture - actual point of failure seems to have been in the barrel and peeled back.

Get a rifle already chambered in .356 WCF. SAVE yourself a lot of headaches, money, and body parts.
